Spikes and skulls are made of Model Magic (an air dry foam material). I hand painted every piece and distressed to make them look old. Spikes are attached with Weldbond glue. Skulls are attached with Velcro. I used Velcro so I could remove the skulls to make the skirt easier to pack.

You will have to test that out. I have not applied Sculpty to leather with weldbond glue.

How did you attach the shoulder epaulets to keep them on? Did you sew or velcro them to the shirt?

Crayola Model Magic. They were spray painted and then distressed.

Did you use hot glue to stick the skulls on to the skirt? Do they stay on well enough? I'm making an astrid costume, and I'm wondering if I'll need something stronger than glue. I was thinking DAP.

For the skulls I actually used velcro. I wanted them to be removable so I could pack the skirt for trips easier... I did not use hot glue since the moisture and wax used in the leather just wouldn't let the hot glue hold. I used a glue called Weldbond to glue the velcro and spikes (directly) to the skirt.

how did I make it...? umm... blood, sweat and tears... hehe.
For the materials I used...
Leather for the skirt, Crayola Model Magic for the skulls and spikes, sintra for the shoulder armor (helped out by a friend for this), a pair of old slippers and some thick foam, faux suede, and fun fur for the boots. Looots of paint and glue! and my creative skillz. and help from my friend with the wig styling.
