Description A male Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos). I found him hiding in some plants, and then he stuck his head up. Luckily I had my camera ready

Olympus E-620, 70-300mm, UV filter, hand held.

You really have the feeling for the right moment. It's impressing how you catch them exactly when it looks just wonderful on a picture.

Wow, thank you

My advice it to shoot very regularly, get a feel for your subjects (if they're animals learn how they behave) and take lots of shots. I got about 5 shots similar to this one, but only this one made the grade.

I know that feeling.... That's why I take so many photos of my cat. I know their movements and their bodylanguage. Especially Luna is a great model. I even have the feeling she likes it. When I build up some backround for her she knows exactly whats going to happen and starts posing hehe.

Very much so. It made me laugh seeing his head pop up like that. He ducked down again after that and then this was the 2nd time he did it.
