Heres the deal. I'm going to start trying to draw at least one thing per week. How I will decide is if anyone suggests a character I like (Doubtful since I dont think anyone will read this for a while), or by using the random feature in the Marvel Database Project (www.marveldatabase.com), and drawing the first character I come across, if there is sufficent reference material.-----------------------------
This week's feature: Battlestar!
A former wrestler for the Universal Class Wrestling Federation, Lemar was recruited to serve as a 'Bold Urban Commando.' Supporting the Super-Patriot, they would conduct staged attacks as well as use intimidation tactics on foreigners, falsely accusing them of being terrorists.
When Walker became Captain America, he asked that the BUCs continue to work with him. Only Hoskins was selected to serve as Bucky. However, Hoskins was later told that the Bucky identity was demeaning to African-Americans, and was convinced to change his name to Battlestar. After the original Captain America returned, Battlestar returned to Chicago, his hometown.
He has also been recruited by Silver Sable to join her Wild Pack.

If you look up his picture in the Marvel Database, you'll see that I essentially drew it straight from there. Nothing spectacular I know. I dont like how his hand or his shield came out, but I did it quick, and I think it looks alright. I'm satisfied.

Awesome. I can never draw muscles which is why I'm more comfortable drawing females. The only gripe I have is that his collar looks sorta odd, too thin maybe? Dunno

Its great to see someone who is truly looking to improve! I really like this, and I think you've done an excellent job. The whole picture seems a bit flat, due to lack of shading perhaps, but otherwise you are definitely heading in the right direction.

Thanks! I plan on working more on shading. In my scraps there is an ex-deviation titled "Spider-Hand" that I think I did fairly well shading.

Best advice I can give is to keep practicing and playing around. This is a good start but there's a lot of small things anatomically that stand out. But you'll work out those kinks the more you draw.

You need some work on cleaning up your lines. He seems a bit stubby, and you forgot to colour the area around one of the eyes.

Thanks for the good comment! I definitly need the criticism. Yeah, I'm having a hard time getting the lines really clean, if someone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it.

You obviously have a lot of talent, this is a really great start to drawing marvel style art. I think your future art would benefit from focusing some effort into practicing hatching and marvel shading techniques. Your images would “pop” more if you allowed yourself to use more black for shading. Overall great start!

Yeah, I didn't work much on the shading on this one. It was midnight and I didnt want to have to let it sit overnight.

It is a cool looking character for sure. My only suggestion would be to keep practicing, especially the mask, face and neck. Maybe work with more shading.
Overall though, he is a neat looking dude

nice character design... looks like an alternate version of captain america... while the design is good the figure itself looks overbalancing... his neck is a bit too high which makes his shoulders look more round and less heroic... and his pose could be more visually impressive... a good place to look for practice on comic book styles is a book called "how to draw comics the marvel way" if you could get your hands on it it would be very useful as it teaches how to make your characters more imposing... alternatively if you cant find that book just look at the perspective on some other comic book art and concentrate on how perspective is used to make characters look more dynamic... hope my advice helps
