Description LOOK ITS CAP-NOSE BOY

Welp, now that all the OG MM1 planning docs are out, I just had to draw this guy. I knew Ariga's Bond Man wasn't exactly going to be 1:1 with the original AK design, but I didn't expect it to be this fucking insane. Propeller grappling hook? Glue tube coattails? The goddamn snout? Does he shoot glue boogers?

I actually live for completely unhinged designs like this. It's... just perfect. That's not to say, of course, it would've been the final design, anyway. The planning doc shows a lot of signs of being written super early, probably even before Inafune was brought on board-- likewise, a couple of AK's designs, like Elec and Bomb, were redone by Inafune, largely for the better, so this one wouldn't be out of the question. I may call him overrated, but I won't pretend Inafuking didn't majorly help the series along... before his producing days, heheh.

Come to think of it, Inafune did say he hated the MM1 RM designs... and now I get the feeling he wasn't just talking about DLNs 3, 4, and 7... Those were the better ones. Valo rightfully bashes Inafune's designs, but I guess there's always a smaller fish. Still, OG Bond and Oil have their charm. (You cannot tell me Bubble wasn't a joke placeholder.)

Thankfully, between my Time/Oil piece and this one, I had a lot of practice remaking MM42's Robot Masters in MM1 style. From linework to Romaji, this was all going through the motions. I'll try to get to those pieces eventually, but like I said, coloring and shading out of borders proves to be a pain. Hopefully this manages to capture that early MM1-MM2 style, reflective of the design.
