Description Here is just a new work i made for my portfolio and to test my new developed metalic-carpaint shader for V-Ray. The Car and rendering was made with cinema 4 D and Vray. Postwork was done with Photoshop. The Backplate and HDRI are from Dosch Design and heavy retouched / color corrected by me. I hope you like it and give me some comments!

Greets,

Maurice

Another great piece.
In my opinion it will look much better if you approach the camera to the car to make me to keep my atention on it.
I think the car shader is a bit too glossy.Overall looks very good!

I can't see the 3D model (joke)

That's the most realistic render if ever seen! I'm so jealous about this vray render! This is where I want to get one day! I think you are my new idol

it really does! I was wondering if the background is modeled? or is it an hdri?

If it is an hdri, where did you get it from? I can't find some decent maps that actually do what I want! I know you are using cinema 4D, and I use 3ds max 10 but still. Vray stays the same.

The BAckground is a photographic Backplate from a collection by Dosch Design. There you could buy some nice collections. Mostly i use cinema 4D that´s right but i also use Max and Maya

just went on that homepage, and wow those backplates are brilliant! The best I've ever seen, but for me they are too expensive! I only use them as my hobby, so I don't think it's worth buying them? And the other thing is that I don't even know if I can get a decent result with my rendering setups!

You used vray sun on yours? My problem is that I'm not good at rendering, and I don't want to spend 100€ on some backplates that I can't use because of my "poor" rendering skills.

Would you still recommend them? If you want you can have a closer look at my audi R8, that one is quite detailed, and I'm not about to let that one down so far! I'll definitely get back to that one some day...

thanks!

MUCK-ONE In reply to Pisci [2011-01-04 15:48:42 +0000 UTC]

Normally you would get a descent result with them. The Quality is very good. Maybe you had to modify your set up a little bit to fit them? Skills come from partice so if i were you i would give them a try or you first try it with some free ones but there are only a few which are good. Some times i use the Vray sun but i depends on the lighting in the Backplate and what i want to achieve.

how true Well about the free backplates, any links? I tried to find once for a very long time, and it didn't end well as I could not find a single free high res backplate!

I remember that I once had such a backplate in max 7 or something like that, but that was like 4 years ago! Definitely gone lost in meantime Would be glad if you had some tips for me where I could find some for free. If not, I'll give the 100€ backplates a go

thank you so much for your help!

Hi

Maurice

great model and shader, though it seems to me that there is a little mistake in the composition, the street is a little uneven, but the car is standing on an even plane... just looks a little wrong, doesnt it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MUCK-ONE In reply to biggestfishever [2011-01-03 18:27:50 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! The car isn´t standing on a even ground / shadow plane If you look close at the shadow you´ll see it.

I'm always forced to shit a brick every time I see one of your renders, mainly because I then have to look for things that let me know that it can't be a photo, which has gotten progressively harder every time.

Excellent work!

do you add VrayDirt to the tires to get that look ?

No, the tires are unwrapped and textured with handpainted textures to get that look.
