Description Apple's new wireless keyboard. It will be released on the same date as the upcoming Mac OS X 10.7 operating system.

Hmm, I'm no good at lieing. This here is what I wish my Apple keyboard looked like. I just can't understand why they chose white keys instead of black ones.

Took around 280 layers and 5 hours in Photoshop (manually modified each key's symbol to match up exactly with the white keyboard). Everything is vector except the reflection at the bottom (couldn't be bothered copying and pasting another 275 layers just for a reflection - too much RAM is at stake ), and the noise is also just generated by the filter. My PC is not powerful enough to make vector noise, which is just lots of randomly placed circles. I tried doing that and it froze up after I covered half the keyboard. Maybe I should have used Illustrator, but then I don't know how to use it.

A note to anyone out there: If you have an Apple wireless keyboard or an Apple keyboard with no numpad, please take a key off and show me what the key slot looks like. I'm going to see if a set of MacBook Pro keys fits in there but I don't know if they have the same slots

The answer to your question: Because Apple is GREEDY & OPPORTUNISTIC, by releasing a white & silver keyboard which over TEN YEARS OLD, they make royalty fees, from companies that sell skins covers for their keyboard.

They don't feel as good as real keys though. They make it all spongy to press.

You put a lots of work to draw this one, not sure what for?

P.S. I think Microsoft Arc Keyboard [link] looks better and is more ergonomic.

But it is an arc shape I could not live with a keyboard with an arc shape.

good.good it looks great but the up/down button I dislike somehow maybe b/c I like separated buttons.
Maybe having a - all black back-lite keyboard would look good as well.

I'd have to study the LED light placement that Apple uses on their keyboards and fit it to mine. I always try and get the most authentic look, you see

I would if it existed. I will be trying to "make" one soon though. I just need a wired keyboard without the numeric keypad, which is amazingly hard to find.

It is curved, I can't use a curved keyboard or I will have to poke my eyes out (I am very fussy ).

Good job, really, I wish apple could make keyboards with Windows layouts...can't stand their layout, especially for working.

I'm used to it now A Windows keyboard feels odd in comparison. Part of the reason why I can't go back to any other keyboard

And as it's my job, I can't imagine using that thing ^^

muckSponge In reply to Ot4Ku [2011-01-13 12:58:39 +0000 UTC]

I write CSS with it Most of the CSS you find in Stratiform was written 100% on my Apple keyboard using Wordpad. Yeah, I'm old skool

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ot4Ku In reply to muckSponge [2011-01-13 18:01:11 +0000 UTC]

I could troll you saying that CSS is actually not programming, same goes for HTML. ;D

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

muckSponge In reply to Ot4Ku [2011-01-14 05:34:02 +0000 UTC]

But you would be wrong It is programming, but it isn't very hard to learn The same principal applies though, you write a huge amount of code until your fingers bleed and then you go have a nap or watch TV until they can continue typing again

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ot4Ku In reply to muckSponge [2011-01-14 20:07:09 +0000 UTC]

Not really, as HTML isn't actually programming too.
But, it can be considered as coding.

The difference is, programming requires algorithms and logic while HTML and CSS both don't require any of those.

Not the same principal, writing 1000 lines of CSS is normal for a website, writing 1000 lines of real code is wrong, except if you're actually writing a library or something like that

muckSponge In reply to Ot4Ku [2011-01-14 23:57:35 +0000 UTC]

D: I come from Albania, and in Albania, coding and programming are the same thing.

(Good save SpewBoy, too bad your country is set to Australia)

D'oh.

Ot4Ku In reply to muckSponge [2011-01-15 06:11:30 +0000 UTC]

For most people (except programmers in fact), both are the same
Maybe you'll see what I mean when you'll use a non-web programming language (PHP sucks, begginer's language).

I'll be learning Java this year in my computer science course. After that hopefully I will get the hang of JavaScript.

Anyway, if I can type thousands of lines of CSS on an Apple Keyboard, I could type a hundred lines of Java (if I knew it ).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ot4Ku In reply to muckSponge [2011-01-15 23:56:14 +0000 UTC]

Java is quite nice, the thing that it can be used on Windows/Linux/MacOS without even recompiling or so (a C++ program using only standard libraries can do so too) is nice, but the counterpart is that as you're running the programs in a virtual engine creating links between the Java API's and the System's one you're on, the performance of the whole thing is kinda poor.

Geeky babbling ;D
Javascript is pure fun

Just wondering... is it easy to map the Command (⌘) to Ctrl?

I have used [dual-booted] Windows on a Mac computer, and I continually used Command (⌘) instead of Control. Problem was, Command (⌘) maps to either Alt or Win on the Windows layout... [link]

muckSponge In reply to plastikmaniac [2011-01-11 00:23:37 +0000 UTC]

There is a way via bootcamp. I think it gives you an option to use your command key as you would with the ctrl key.

Omg you are totaly insane
Designing a fricking black keyboard for 5hours because it doesn't exist and you want it?!
And the most know comment on your artwork when they ask for updates/fixes: sorry I'm verry busy right now....xD

Lazy one

muckSponge In reply to Seahorsepip [2011-01-10 07:09:27 +0000 UTC]

Being insane occupies a large chunk of my time, you see. I was talking to someone and they were arguing that the white keyboard looked good, and I told them if they saw an actual black keyboard and looked back at their white one, they would cry. So naturally, I had to make a black keyboard so they could look at it and see what they were missing out on.
