Description A few friends, Matthew and I decided to build Skylanders costumes that were appropriate for attending children's charity events with the Melbourne Costume Group. Minus Hex, this is our group!

Chill: Cassie
Stealth Elf: Jade
Chop Chop: Matthew
Jet Vac: me
Photography: Kim Hounsell Bachelor, edits by me.

Chop Chop and JV were made by myself with assistance from Matthew. Chill and Stealth Elf by Jade and Cassie.

those would require quadsuits, and we had limited time to get these completed. We're looking at possibly doing Skylanders Swap Force, though humanoid only. Limited finances and time limit our options, unfortunately, and quadsuits are fiddly and expensive to put together well

The costumes or us?

Costumes: no, sorry. They've been made to fit specifically the person wearing them.

Us: it would depend on the occasion, distance, availability etc.

lol! Mission accomplished! Some of the kids were all D: at seeing a giant bird. Some were like 8D and kept touching everything, and lots of parents knew who we were - which is a nice change lol.Ā

These costumes are fantastic! My daughter is wanting to be Chill for halloween. Any suggestions/help on how Cassie and Jade made Chill? Thanks!

Thanks so much!

I took a much different approach to our costumes than Jade and Cassie, but they used upholstery foam and covered with fabric. To do the head they paper mached over an exercise ball and inserted a helmet inside. My biggest tip is to look at Youtube, look at what you know how to do/what you're good at and go with that! It also depends on how complex and detailed you want the costume to be. If it's a once off costume you could probably go simpler, eg instead of making a head use facepaint and create a helmet. Practice with materials too. Anyway, I hope that helps a little bit!

Hopefully soon. We've been asked to wear them for the Starlight charity event at EB Games, which is in a couple of weeks, so we should get some more snaps then! A lot of the photos of the both of us taken at the con were blurry because of the lighting Photoshoot soon!

Spyro?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

MudgetMakes In reply to kaburninator [2013-04-29 11:40:18 +0000 UTC]

Because these were speed-builds we didn't have time to build a quadsuit required to do Spyro or any of the other quadruped characters; we were limited to the anthro characters. Jet Vac was a challenge for the time frame (and because I've never built anything like him before!).
