“Unexpected Guest” is a 11" ceramic (earthenware) figure.It is hand made (ie. "one-of-a-kind") and NOT created from a mold.
From time to time in life unexpected things come up. If you have a partner these unexpected things will sometimes sprout up between the two of you. Leading to comments like, “who’s going to take care of this” and “how did this happen?” In the end those “unexpected guests” are often how partnerships are defined. This is of course only one interpretation. I invite you to allow your own baggage to sway your reading of the piece.

It's an underglaze. Some of it is a slip that I mix up too. Kind of a blending of both.
