Description Ocarina of Time will always be my favorite Zelda game - (of course, it will come to the test when skyward sword comes out, BUT), and here's why.

Ocarina got me inspired to draw again during Middle School. I didn't always... draw all the time like I do now. Anime had gotten me stuck in a rut, and for some reason, Ocarina got me to stop all that nonsense and got my artwork going in a direction to where I'm happy with now.

So thanks Nintendo and the Zelda team, for making the greatest game of all time - it was both an inspiration and an experience I'll never forget.

Oh mercy, I love that scowl on his face. And I hated the OoT Water Temple for the exact same reason! There was either one door without a key or one key without a door!

Usually people draw Link in Anime style because that's how they see him. You don't seem to want to do that and put him in your own art style. It's rough but truly beautiful and I admire that. Keep at it.

I saw your pic and faved it! Also, i'm getting Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D in less than 24 hrs, so that I can play it on my 3DS and I'm excited about it. What about you? Will you get the Ocarina of Time 3D game yourself?

Alas I have not the money to purchase a 3DS and the game. I badly want it, but... *sigh* it's a current wishlist item.

Anime stuck me in a rut, too. I couldn't get rid of those huge eyes that made no sense.
I love OoT. And I remember many a day when I played and was all like, "Where the heck does this damn key go????"
Ah, nostalgia.

This art is pretty kick-ass too!

Coincidentally, I'm in the same boat - somehow Ocarina of Time knocked me out of the generic-anime boat and kicked my fanart up a notch. I think the various Zelda games and art styles are still keeping me on my toes, nowadays. So cheers!

That's really neat that Ocarina of Time was an inspiration to your artwork. I'm glad that it influenced you to change your style because I absolutely love it. I know I've mentioned this to you before, but I think your style would be great for official concept art.

I love the picture, too, but I'm faving this more for your artist's comments.

While OoT isn't my favorite Zelda game (or my second, or my third . . .) I will always love it, and more than that, I ALWAYS love when people find inspiration in something. Ocarina of Time means something to you, and hearing you say that makes me -- to use a cliched phrase -- feel warm and fuzzy. I love it. It just makes me happy for reasons I can't coherently put into words.

So while Ocarina of Time isn't my favorite, the fact that it's your favorite makes me happy, if that makes any sense. Plus, it gave us The Return, and how could I not love it for that? (Although, even though it had literally no chance of happening, if they could have included Hunter or Neesha or Brayden or Bruiser into the 3DS remake, it would have made it so much better for me . . . and it frustrates me, because the guy at the Archery Shop with the pufferfish lips is NOT how I imagine Bruiser, I feel like Nintendo got it wrong and they stuck Bruiser in the item shop instead. xP [/grumblegrumble] But seriously, I'm going to take such issue with facing Dark Link in the Water Temple. That's always been my favorite fight in OoT, hands down, but I haven't played OoT since reading The Return and now, when he dies, I'm just going to be like, "Noooo, Braydeeen! ;A; Link, y u kill ur dad like that?" It's going to be heartbreaking, and poor, now-bishounen Link won't even realize what it is that he has done. [/rambleramble])

As an aside - I believe it's actually me that got it wrong. The Item Shop Guy is, in fact, who I picture for Bruiser. ^^ When I first started the story I hadn't played the game recently enough and I got them mixed up. For the sake of Canon, let's say Puckerfish Lips worked for Bruiser before he had Link to do slave labour for him. Now, thanks to Zelda changing time, poor Puckerfish is out of work entirely!

Also, I'm thinking I really need to go get a 3DS to play this game again. I don't even know how long it's been. :s

Mudora: This picture is awesome. I saw it on my phone when I got up and it made me feel all nostalgic for OoT. It's a simple image but you managed to capture the spirit of the game (that which made me love it so much and obsess over it enough to write a fic or two ^^). Thank you for the morning burst of reminiscing!

Scrawlers In reply to KA-Rose [2011-07-07 07:35:39 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but Rose, your story is what I accept as canon, so Nintendo got it wrong in this case. Hahaha, but nah, I know what you mean. And you SHOULD play the 3DS version. Various places got huge makeovers (Castletown in particular -- you should see the various shops and buildings, they actually all look different!) and the Temple of Time took my breath away with how beautiful it looked. I actually said, "Wow" softly when I walked in -- completely involuntarily, too, my mouth just got away from me.

Every time I go by Gerudo's fortress and go through the whole "Crap I'm captured sequence", I always thought as Neesha as one of the girls you knocked out with your bow. XD And her being so frustrated that you got away with it, as well as becoming an honorary gerudo member... XD

Oh the things I wish were in the game... XD
