Description
This was an assignment for an illustration class I'm taking. We were supposed to try and emulate an artist's style that we really like. I chose Michael Parkes. Because he's awesome. My only major problem with this piece is that I relied really heavily on actual dragon paintings as reference and so I feel a little like I copied other people's art. Which I guess was the point of the assignment but...I don't know. I might just re-work some things so that I can feel more like it's my own original piece.Related content

Awesome! Before I read your comments, I thought to myself "Whoa, this is really reminiscent of a Michael Parkes painting." Then I read your comments and was like "Go figure." LOL
So, you definitely pulled off exactly what you were trying to accomplish and I LOVE it! Michael Parkes is way rad and I adore his work. Nice choice.
Oh, and I LOVE that you used YOU as the dragon tamer. You fit the role perfectly!

Oh crap! April said that exact thing about the girl looking suspiciously like me. It's not supposed to be...it's funny because Teisha said that the face looked just like you. I just kind of made the face up as I went along so maybe I subconsciously made it into a hybrid of you and me? Anyway, I've been thinking lately that maybe I should re-work it because it's pretty embarrassing to think of there being a picture on the internet of what appears to be me with my boobs hanging out.

Really? I'm glad that you even noticed it...I spent all this time on it and it was originally way bigger and in the center rather than off to the side but then I decided that it looked like a giant cowboy buckle and had to downsize it. And then I just felt like all that detail was pointless. But. Tess will be glad to hear that you like it since it was all her idea. She thought that the skirt could use some gold to tie it in with the rest of the theme.
