Description The Lario (Como Lake) from Bellano.
I love the light and distance rendition. The full resolution scan has enough information that you can read the markings on the bigger boat's sail!
The uncoated Heliar from the thirties seems to confirm its fame of "Lens of the Masters". Same praise for the FP4 film...

Nov. 2007

Camera: Voigtlaender Bessa I with RF
Lens: Heliar 10,5cm / 3.5
Film: Ilford FP4 125/22 developed in Ornano Gradual ST20

2 months later I'm still so jealous of this. I look at my own meagre stuff and feel just embarassed in comparison! This is just a great job Ricardo.

No need to feel ashamed. Your Retina waits. Kodachrome or Plus-X? Or maybe some Fuji Sensia and Neopan SS

Ok that day is coming. She's in New Zealand now, but I'll be using her again soon. Neopan sounds nice, that was always my goal, re-familarize myself by using the digital (=free mistakes) and then go back to film. Although I've had so much to do at work, I have hardly used the digital for months. Can't even find time to process my raw shots - haven't posted anything for ages. But my clients are happy!

I liked the balance in the colour version - but this is absolutely lovely. I agree with you, I like this version far better than the colour. The depth and range of tone - and those two far right sails - breathtaking. For me, its almost as good as that shot you did with your grandfather's plate camera. Great job!

You've been very active here lately - I'm jealous! December is always the worst at work for me, I hardly have time to sign on.

Thanks! Good that you like it so much But it didn't get a DD. No print sales either... yet.
The more I look at it, the more I like the color version too, but the b&w has more appeal.
I became a bit more active here (I have a lot of backlog to publish) perhaps a bit as a side-effect that I become active on flickr. I found a couple of nice guys there and so I post there and here too. Let's see if I can stir up the fans watching me in the shadow...
