David Mack's characters Tigerlily and Scarab.Pencils for a comission for ...or the beginning of it
Gonna hear what he thinks and if he likes it, i'm gonna mutilate it completely by attempting to ink it! haha that'll be fun!
Pls throw some criticism if u fancy -every little bit is a HUGe help for me to develop
(...was thinking of filling the "window" with more lilies -what do u think?).

Btw, used reference for the "window" in the background. Unfortunately I dunno who actually made it (yay for google), cause i'd love to give the creator the cred's he/she deserves. it's truly beautiful and something unique!

Where to begin? The pose? The capture of the characters themselves? The intricate detail of the flora? ALL BRILLIANT! Great job on this piece. You asked for help progressing and honestly the ONLY time I critique is when that exact phrase is used. I believe the only thing that could bring this piece further along is the depth. Being only pencils it has to be judged as such. Your line work is tight (an inkers dream), but as a penciled piece it lacks depth. There is little to no "roundness" to their limbs or even the bamboo BG. Penciled shading would have brought the characters out from the BG instead they appear to be part of said BG. You could bring that same effect about with the adding of color, but again...this is a penciled piece. Without the depth of shading even the creases in her shirt appear flat. I hope that helps.

Think i got a bit shadow-"wary" cause of messing up shadows before..so think i went completely over to the other side lol.

Lea you really nailed the concept on this entirely - was curious to see how you did it. Don't want to mention too much about the concept for anyone who hasn't read the book, cos it'd be a spoiler but this is awesome. It wasn't all rum and dancing for you at Xmas I see...had you're pencils going lol
