One of two submissions I have for the St. Patrick's advent calendar.
Day 21: Exiled Snake

There is a myth that Saint Patrick made to banish snakes from Ireland,
resulting as the reason why the country has no breed of wild snake;
however, the legend takes more of a metaphorical meaning than literal.
Snakes are a common allegory to Irish magic and paganism, and as
Saint Patrick was known to convert Ireland to Christianity, this is a more
liable explanation to the myth.
