So, I found myself suddenly thinking about a game from my childhood today.

After a bit of digging, I found the game, and played around with it for about an hour and…ohh the nostalgia. It hit me HARD.

The game is Hamtaro: Ham Ham Heartbreak. I had a bit of a Hamtaro phase back in middle school lol. I mainly experienced the franchise through the video games, but also watched a bit of the anime as well.

The Hamtaro video games are puzzle games, revolving around using Hamchat to solve problems. Even though it sounds simple and easy, it does actually pose a bit of challenge, as you have to use Hamtaro’s abilities in pretty unique ways to unlock more Hamchats, and thus progress through the game.

I was surprised by just how many interactions there are just hidden in random places. I feel I am able to appreciate that a lot better now than when I was a kid. It made me want to explore and interact with literally everything I saw, just to see what would happen, and I was pleasantly rewarded every time.

So, after I put down the game, I drew this. I used to doodle Hamtaro a lot when I was a kid, but this could be considered my first proper drawing of him. I’m quite satisfied with the result, and I hope you guys like it as well!
