Another photo for the stock collection.This is of an eighteen-hand Thoroughbred at a nice trot. This horse was a jumper par excellance .
Taken with an old manual 35mm SLR in 1996 or 1997. After this I switched to a camera with autofocus.

Wow..havn't seen another 18 hand thoroughbred before.
Did you get to ride him?

No - he was still in training and could spook like a nutcase and I was still getting back in shape and riding a 15 hh NSH. I found my NSH challenging enough.
The last 18 hand horse I met was an Irish sport horse.

Well, it would have been a fun challenge, I would've accepted it..hehe. I got the opportunity to ride an 18 hand Thoroughbred gelding this summer, his name is Cavalier. I was planning on buying him, but then someone else did before because I told his owner I would rather ride Encore [one of my trainees]. But yeah..I love tall horses, they are awesome.

I'm 5 foot 8 inches, but 18 hands is too tall for me. I like to be able to put my leg on the horse somewhere near his sides.

Cool horse. The photo's blurred though - maybe a faster shutter speed or a sports setting would help?

Thank you. Old camera, old lens, and I was a n00b at shooting moving animals. The photo was taken in '96-'97. I might have taken it with my old Sekor 35mm SLR.
