in the gamecube version,can you take off the hat?or change the clothes?ive never played that version and everytime i see the characters they have hats matching the shirt.

You can't take off the hat in Animal Crossing (GCN), but you can change your clothes.
Although, you can put on and take off hats in Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS) and City Folk (Wii). You can also put on glasses, different wigs, and hair accessories in WW and CF.
I have all three and I enjoy them a lot. I'd suggest getting City Folk, it's a lot better than the last two I've played. It also has a lot more features. You can also use Wii Speak for it.
