my goodness! i just love how you convey that painterly feel!
I want to learn how to do that one day. I usually let the perfectionist in me get in the way. My paintings are always too smooth and boring o-o It seems like one would have to learn how to loosen up and work with the textures and imperfections, versus battling them and eliminating them.Β

First of all you need to paint more.Traditional paint and digital.Photoshop or another digital tecniques are just tool you know, maybe a lot of tool option they have but if you know what you need for your art , it is very easy.
When i finish sketch , i paint basic colors and I try effect,more color,curve,levels,something like lightining and shadow option.Sometimes i use color mixer,sometimes i restarted my work.How i feel i draw and paint.This is not rule but you need to find your style and color palette.That's my advice.

I will definitely try to practice more. Its pretty hard to find time for fun when you have college going on at the same time... >.< but hopefully I can revive my old drawing/painting hobby one day ^-^
