I love the soft expression of her face and the paleness of her skin. it's really fragile looking and beautiful. great hair, too. it's what first caught my eye.

i like this image as far as the lighting, composition and her expression go.. but the blurring is just too much for me. I can appreciate an exaggerated blur, but this seems like you just went a bit too far.

Maybe you were going for an effect that didn't look realtistic, but to me, if the eyes are in focus, other parts of her face that are the same distance away from the lens would also need to be in focus. If you had made, for instance, the base of her nose even just a little more in focus, it wouldn't have bothered me so much.

I'm also confused as to why you left just part of her hair in focus. I'm really interested to know your thoughts on this so I hope you reply!

I still think it's a beautiful image, I would just have liked to see less blurring

thanks for your comment you are right about blur. For me very much importend realtistic effect . digital effect must near analog technique if you will use technique camera (sinar 9X13 - Linhoff 13-18 etc.) you can do it. Because technique camera has bellows and you can change focus and perspective easly with bellows.

sorry, I didn't really understand what you said about the technique camera. Are you saying that the blurring here was caused by the kind of camera you used and not something you added in photoshop?

I know you're from Turkey so English probably isn't your first language, but if you could explain it more clearly that'd be great I know Spanish and French if you speak either of those languages and would prefer to write in them

i did with photoshop but i can do with technique camera its mean blur is realistic

JessDismont In reply to Muratkivrak [2007-01-31 14:48:12 +0000 UTC]

i guess i'll have to look up technique cameras bc I have no idea how this would be realistic. I've never heard of it before now.

What he did was use Gaussian Blur in photoshop. It was poorly done, and that is why you see a lack of continuity in distances and such.

The effect of a tilt shit lens can give specific focus to an area during a portrait, but they are very hard to use and would yield results unlike the image you see here.

I woudln't agree with it being poorly done, the effect from this is so unique and surreal, that's why i like this so much, jsut my opinon.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

95101 In reply to jono-renton [2007-04-13 18:17:19 +0000 UTC]

...obviously it's your opinion, as you just stated it. Sorta rhetorical.

It's poorly done because one can see through the technique. Just as a writer who used weak logic to connect two points would be seen as stretching his method thin, and therefor revealing a poor technique.

In any event, it's all a matter of experience and understanding.

In any event, it's all a matter of experience and understanding. how do you mean?

95101 In reply to jono-renton [2007-04-13 20:45:39 +0000 UTC]

To the masses, a black & white photograph of a bride where only her roses are in color seems like art to them, most seasoned wedding photographers would agree (at least the few I know) that it's shite and cliche.

Similarly, to the masses, a angled portrait may seem like art to a student graduating, but most seasoned fashion photographers would agree (at least the few I know) that it's shite and cliche.

Addtionally, to the masses, a Guassian blur on a portrait may seem like art to a landscape photographer or dA kiddie, but most seasoned photographers would agree (at least the few I know) that it's shite and cliche.

All about experience, mate.

expiereince shouldn't come into art or art appreciation, "All about experience, mate." i presuem you are implying i am not expirienced and you are? not liking your tone my friend, lets leave there shall we.

95101 In reply to jono-renton [2007-04-13 23:02:31 +0000 UTC]

Your skills at deduction are not quite as high as I hoped.

I didn't say "art appreciation", although you could look at it that way, sure. Detecting weak technique, or obvious effects, or cliche techniques, is easier with experience. Simple as that.

Sure, let's leave it there. I couldn't give a shit.
