Description Here he is!! My baby!! This bio is going to kill me because there's so much to him and I always need to write down everything. Also not everything is set solidly down in stone either, like his age amongst other things. I need to write out a lot more bios and stuff on the culture he's from before a lot of this makes sense though, so I'll put all that does in my todo list.

Name: Apollo
Age: Probably early to mid thirties (idrk where in his story I'm setting him down in for this)
Height: 6ft
Gender: trans man
Species: half-elf
Family relations: Artemis (twin sister) Unnamed dad, Eliza (first child) Armin (spouse) Frin (possibly another spouse) Silvyr (captain, motherly-figure and possible mother-in-law) Liz (other possible mother-in-law), two unnamed children, in-laws from Armin's side

Likes: Learning by doing, sailing, piracy, his family, holding hands, being physically affectionate, winning, his (maybe) mother-in-law who is (was?) also his captain, The Sovereign, the sea, merfolk
Dislikes: One of his (maybe) Mothers-in-law, not making progress in his current project, the fact that he's foreign everywhere, his chronic pain, bumping into things because he doesn't turn his head enough, his daughter having her enchanted toy taken away from her, the story behind the adoption of his first daughter

Personality: Apollo isn't a static man, the idea of being static bores him, and nearly becomes a different person in different situations. One thing that is mostly universal is his hot-headed nature and his tendency to shred arguments and ideas to pieces, sometimes constructively, sometimes viciously. He constantly needs to expand his knowledge in relevant fields and can't stand people who believe they know "enough" about a subject, but can't fault them for growing bored of the subject. Apollo nearly always has something to prove and being ruled more by his emotions than he'd care to admit, he will do anything to get where he wants and needs to be, and just about everything he does is for his family. Apollo is happiest when just around his SOs and children where he turns into a great big softie, and it's only around his family that he really reigns in his hot-headedness, preferring to be tender and affectionate.

History: Apollo doesn't know where he and Artemis originated from, nor does he care. All anyone knows is the two were found in a barrel on Silvyr's ship sometime after they had learned to walk, to everyone's distress. The two were adopted by one of Silvyr's fences, a man who immigrated to Rhul which made Apollo and Artemis legally foreign too, even though it is believed the two were born in Rhul. Apollo grew up fascinated by the sea and often lamented over the fact that he was half elven instead of a merfolk and that he was too young to join Silvyr's crew as a kraken hunter and a pirate. Instead, he resigned his childhood helping his dad out in the shop with Artemis and holding weekly meetings with the other children in the building for various money making schemes.

When he was finally twelve, he was finally allowed to join Silvyr's crew, and despite being told for years that he would be helping the cook instead of sailing, he was still surprised and massively disappointed that he was stuck helping the cook instead of sailing. By the time he was fourteen he had wormed his way into working on the deck and shadowing the crew actually sailing the ship.

On his fifteenth birthday, he was presented with a potion of water breathing and a wreck to explore with the ship's merman to keep him safe. While he was disturbing fish, he ended up helping save a tiny merfolk from a vague, yet menacing, threat and ended up with a merfolk that clung desperately to him. The merfolk spent a lot of time on the ship, refusing to go back home, and growing up with Apollo, the two fell in love in their twenties. Apollo had also fallen in love with an elf named Armin, and coming from a polygamous culture, hoped the two would get along and that there would be a functional relationship. It took a while, but it worked out well enough. He eventually married Armin (and maybe Frin) and shortly afterwards adopted his first child, Eliza.

Some time after that, followed an affair with a man named Nicolai, which ended up in Apollo being impaled with an enchanted sword, being blinded in one eye and then dumped in the jungle to die by Nicolai's dad. He was saved by his sister who conveniently was hunting at the time, and left cursed with chronic pain where he was impaled. He's spent a lot of money trying to undo the curse, but no one can make head nor tails of the curse and he refuses to tell anyone who impaled and subsequently cursed him. The chronic pain forced him to retire from the sea, so he worked a few years with his dad in the shop until they had the money to open a second shop which Apollo now runs with his dad's help. After setting up this shop, he adopted two more children.

hhhhh that's a long bio I tried really hard to condense things down and I didn't even touch on the major social construct that influenced so much either

Okay so this character is really interesting and his history is SUPER well developed! I also really dig his design tbh his hair is lovely and your choice for colours for his clothes was great cause it really goes with his skin. My criticism isn't really for the character, moreso how you present his information. This is just a personal thing of mine but I've always thought it to be a bit too much to post things like lists of likes and dislikes (family I can understand though), and personality traits. I think you could make it more interesting by just writing a paragraph describing him rather than go into a list. Think like a page from a book of how an author would describe a character and roll with that. You can spruce it up by making it a scene even, that way it catches a readers attention much more and makes them pay more attention to what is being said rather than an endless list. But overall the character himself is good and seems very well thought out!

omgg I'm super glad you like him as a character, and especially the colours! The flats were so hard to pick out for some reason. the bio could def use some sprucing up and I'll try to do that in the future.   Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to look over my little disaster

omgg thank you ;; he started off as a napkin sized pirate kite that was like the best thing ever. He was originally a captain, for some reason, but changed to a nervous new pirate when I first drew him. Then he was my PC in a shitty game of dnd I was in for years (we only got to level five in two years and only one of the npcs could kill the Big Bad, not us) who started off human but eventually he turned into a really human passing half elf and there was this thing about one of the many boring npcs being his biological dad. There may have also been a dragon who shape shifted into an elf that he had... conflicted feelings about. He was also stuck in a weird country that wanted to wipe the country he was from off the map??? Important lore the dm forgot to tell me because boy did he talk way too much shit to everyone for a dad at risk of being murdered for being foreign

I wish i could have so many good ideas as you did with this char, I really love him and theres a lot to him (i cried a bit abt the shapeshifting dragon lmao)

omg I'd love to play or dm a game centred around piracy that sounds so cool and I need to look into that like right now. It's easy to get a lot for your characters though when you drop them into a culture tbh, like when I understood the culture he came from he sprang to life and was promptly stabbed

Ahhh lovely! We kinda made our own characters (i can dm them to u if u want) and planned to make like a chart to move our characters on (with islands and sea etc) and cards with events on them
But we dint really kno how we could play it out & I'm living in another region from her so it kinda died out a bit (not the will tho)
We wanted to keep it around the culture that was in the golden age of piracy with some fantasy themes added. Idk if that makes sense lmao
