I'd like to think they had something to do with his upbringing, but I'm sure their 'care' and 'love' would have been very plastic, very fake and very rehearsed in order to cultivate him into the sort of prince they needed. I still like the two of them, though. xD

I never once got that implication from him - he just seems like an awful old man to me. 95% sure Cheren and Alder would've needed to grab my arms to keep the murder in my eyes out of my actions when Ghetsis was saying those awful things about N while he was upset behind him. I'm not sure that someone who ever cared could then say such terrible things.

Well, no. XD We're strictly speaking OOC. Canonically, I doubt Ghetsis ever showed N the tiniest shred of kindness, and if he ever did, it was most likely an accident.
That part in the game made me so sad... I wanted to hug N so hard when he was saying those things DX And punch Ghetsis squarely in the jaw right afterwords. :'D

No, I meant like I would have a hard time believing this was the case if they say, released a novelization or a manga of N's life. I'd read the book and be all "...I guess if you say so, you're the writer but... this makes no sense."
As I said, I could have potentially murdered an old man at that scene in the game. I'll have to remember it's just a cosplayer if I ever see the costume, too. xD
