Description

Offa was born to two guards of Erebor who expected their daughter—with strong arms and wide hands—to join the warrior profession. Both were surprised, but ultimately supportive, when she became an apprentice weaver instead. Offa fled as an orphan after Smaug took the Lonely Mountain and traveled with her exiled people to Ered Luin, where she gained her mastery. In honor of her parents, Offa dedicated much of her time and low resources to help keep the poverty-stricken guards of Thorin’s Halls clothed.

On her way to deliver fresh shirts to the barracks one morning, Offa tripped over a small dwarfling and fell down a flight of steps. The little girl helped collect the fallen shirts, proclaimed that she thought Offa had big feet, and swore to protect her from the perils of stairs. From then on, Offa gained a feisty, stubborn, blonde shadow named Hannaris.

Hannaris grew into an accomplished spearwoman. On an odd day in early spring, she went to Offa’s apartment for an evening meal, as she did most days of the week. When the door opened, she found herself looking into the eyes of her One. Though five decades separated them in age and they had been close for many, many years without any hint of romantic entanglement, it struck no one as a shock to find Offa and her tough, blonde protector married before the end of the year.
