Only telling the truth. ^^ I really love this drawing and I'm not sure how I missed it before. o.o

I've been wanting to draw more things, but I've hit the strange stage where my style is in that awkward stage where it's changing, but it hasn't quite gotten rid of all the old yet and I get a strange combination of the two. Haha

well, i'm not great at realistic, but i'm not bad at pseudo-realistic i can still do a bit of realism if i try so here goes:
the most important thing, i think, is that sketching out the basic shapes lightly and slowly adding more and more detail with increasingly darker layers is the way to go, instead of drawing detail with hard lines right off the bat. i found that out the hard way

light pencil shading and blending is also really important for cheekbones and noses and such, since they lack the defining lines of eyes and lips. instead of lines for these like in a more cartoony style, try doing some shading. b/w values are important too, so i'd look them up the easiest thing to do when drawing from a colored picture is to desaturate it first so you can actually tell how light or dark something is.

also use a lot of reference and look up some tutorials and anatomy lessons. if you want to check it out i have some of my favorite tutorials in this folder: [link]

tracyjb is honestly the best teacher for anatomy and expressions and consistency, i've found she draws mostly anthropomorphic stuff, but a lot of it applies to humans as well. [link] and [link]

those are really more for doing your own thing than drawing realism, but they're still pretty helpful!

sorry, i kind of got off-topic there, but basically the best tip for any art is practice, practice, practice! and practice the right way to do things too it's harder to relearn how to draw than to learn it right the first time.
