Description
This was a drawing I did with pencil. I recently enhanced it a bit on the computer adding in a frame. I never usually explain my work, but I will for this one. I tried to give the heart a sort of "eggshell" type of feel to it as it signifies a fragile heart. The fingers reprsent my heart reaching out towards love and the bleeding coming from the penitration is, in a way, saying that it's a wounding thing to do. The clock (pocket watch) signifies my feeling that time tugs at my heart the more I find myself alone. It is being wrapped around my heart with a rose stem simply because roses are my favorite flower (both beautiful to look at and yet harmful to touch). It is being weighed down with an eye to represent reality. As I look for love, the clock ticks and I realize that most of the time I'm only dreaming...but as I become aware of reality, I realize time is against me. I have a Claddagh ring on my thumb pointed in its symbolic direction (heart pointing outward) represnting my search for love. I am also part Irish so it personalizes it a bit more in that sense.
