We had a dusting of snow yesterday. Most of it was gone before I had a chance to go out and photograph it during my lunch hour.... I guess I should make a collection of these lunch hour shots!
Shot in Ketchikan, Alaska (actually in Saxman), along the Tongass Narrows, 11/13/09.

Thank you, Scott. I was really kicking myself today--as I headed back from lunch, the clouds were fabulous! Really different... Hopefully, tomorrow will be the same. Might have to skip eating for a few shots.

Sometimes an image just grabs me and makes me sigh in knowing I am but a spec of dust in this universe...makes me realize that all of the petty things we as humans deal with daily are mere blibs and we should step back and appreciate what mother earth has to show us. The clouds, the hills the water are all reminders to me...maybe just me...but this moved me. Lunch must be a wonderful time for you!

Thank you so much for such a generous compliment... I can't say how pleased I am that it means something to you. The beauty of my lunch hour is that there's hardly anyplace on the island here that I can't get to and back in an hour--I'm sure some people find the confines of this little island, well, confining... There is such beauty everywhere. Even if it's raining sideways and blowing like crazy, I know that it'll break eventually, and I find it so gorgeous immediately after a weather change. I, too, am reminded humbled by the greatness of mother earth's bounty--especially if I've gone out of town, and have the opportunity to flay back in and see the few buildings here surrounded by so much wilderness, and know that all the daily drama that goes on in such a small community is such a small part of the big picture. We're all just guests on this third rock from the sun... I'd better stop before I start rambling.

Just wait till you can retire.. I was forced to retire but having the time to do photography is wonderful !!!
