A kalap-pagodának van valami története? Látom benne vagy a Doctor Who-ban....

On second thoughts, would it be a disaster if I started watching the Classic series with An Unearthly Child? You said to start with Three, but I accidentally watch the new series out of order so it was confusing.

You kind of have to got into a different mindset to watch shows from that long ago. You have to watch it like someone from that time would have, and not someone from today, who would notice how ancient it all looks. You needed to use your imagination more back then, like a radio play. But that's fine because I'm good at that. I will let you know what I think of the First Doctor after I watch him. I'm going to wait until after Christmas to start the Classic series though. I'll need something to look forward to after Eleven regenerates. *sob*

Actually Ten is my favorite, but I love Eleven as well. It's really close. You've seen the 50th now, right?

Yeah, I had seen it. I wasn't impressed with the first 3/4 of it, because of that lots of pointless thing, but the end was epic and awesome.

I haven't seen Classic Who yet. I thought most of the First and Second Doctor's episodes were lost? Or am I wrong about that?

I'm not sure if it's most, but it is a fair amount. They did find a lot of them recently though! If you want a good 1st Doctor episode, I strongly recommend An Unearthly Child. It's the first ever episode, and I think it totally still holds up today.
But I agree with mustamirri, start with the 3rd Doctor. I think his episodes are much more like the modern show than any of the other classic Doctors, so he's a good one to start with

Alright, I'll start with Three then. After Christmas though, and after I stop sobbing from the death of Eleven. Are you excited about the nine new Second Doctor episodes?

Haha, yeah, I'll miss eleven too. Series 7 has been the best in the new show by far in my opinion, every episode was fantastic. Still, I'm super excited to see Capaldi as the Doctor!
And yes, I'm really looking forward to watching them. It's quite amazing that they managed to find them, in Africa of all places.

I didn't think the show could get much better than Series 4, but then I saw 5, 6, and 7.1. Still have 7.2 to catch up with though. The recently rediscovered episodes make me wonder where else the remaining 97 could be hiding.

Well, BBC were terrible at archiving way back in the day. The way they saw it, once a program had aired, it was obsolete. They didn't do repeats, and there were no home releases, so they often just recorded over the film or recycled it into something else. Once 3 came along and VHSs and reruns started happening, suddenly they wanted to archive it much more carefully.
It's kind of a miracle that as many of the old ones still exist as there are, now that I think about it.

I was born in the Nineties so I cannot comprehend what that means. How could they not archive everything that ever aired? I don't understand...
I read an article that suggested that the original airings of the Classic era episodes could still be floating around somewhere in *space* and that it might be possible to receive the signals again. Not sure how plausible that is though.

Well, a broadcasted signal just keeps on going until it's interrupted by something. You could be on Mars and still connect to the internet. The lag would be horrendous, but you could. So, yeah, I guess it is possible for them to be floating around in space which is just the coolest.

And maybe real alien species are watching William Hartnell episodes right now and are waiting impatiently for the announcement of Patrick Troughton, much like we recently waited impatiently for the announcement of Peter Capaldi. The aliens of course are several decades behind us because they are so far away.

I have to catch up to Series 7 before I go back and watch the classic series. I was thinking of starting with Four, because he's the most popular of the classic Doctors..
