I wish I could draw spontaneous myself, and wander away from my comfort zone...
I never get satisfied with my work, nor am I able to draw directly from my thoughts, as I did when I was smaller.

Hahaha all my art teachers told me to stop drawing anime too and for years I was like NO GUYS CLAMP IS THE GREATEST WHY DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND ; ^ ;

SPOILERS: It was for the best. One Piece is forever though. The friend who got me into it gave me one of the books with the disclaimer "if you can get past the art, it's great" but the art is one of the greatest things I've ever seen basically.

I like your long-standing relationship with armpit hair. I can see how you were inspired by Jaime Hewlett but he has such a binary way of drawing things - aggro or femme, hot or gross, and always cool cool cool coolkids. You have a much more nuanced way of portraying things, where your characters can't really be put into a box, and that's all you.

I simply started enjoying other mediums and comics than manga and spread myself out to seek things to get some influence from! It always helps to read something outside of your usual reperoire. Jamie Hewlett's Tank Girl and Eichiiro Oda's One Piece were a huge help because I realized the existence of attitude and body/facial dynamics.

I don't think your style has gotten fragile, but it has become very delicate! Especially compared to 08/09. I noticed you've been putting more detail into smaller objects in drawings (like...detail on clothes, etc) and used more balanced colors, rather than doing EVERY thing eye-poppingly bright
