In Norse mythology the valkyries (Old Norse Valkyrja "Choosers of the Slain") are dísir, minor female deities, who served Odin. The valkyries' purpose was to choose the most heroic of those who had died in battle and to carry them off to Valhalla where they became einherjar. This was necessary because Odin needed warriors to fight at his side at the preordained battle at the end of the world, Ragnarök. I have to correct you Zedigan, Vikings DID have and USED 2 handed swords, although most notably not in combat where they preferred 1 handed swords and axes. 2 handed swords were used in ceremony where the leader or king was hosting, as the sword was simply a vessel or container for the soul and will of the male.This came about after the first viking raids on England where the claymore was seen as a powerful weapon, but slow and useless for the viking warrior.
On another note. This picture is the ONLY picture i have ever posted on and i will probably never post again. This is absolutely amazing. Detail, light, the photo is in an of itself a work of art; and then you add in that breathtakingly beautiful and mesmerizing beauty and spice it up with chain mail... Wow. Just wow. PLEASE release more of this model and genre. The beauty, strength and power you have captured causes the mind to lose focus on aspects of aggravation and wander to a past life of purity and strength.
