OOoohh I'm loving this project so much! I've been wanting to do a real character design for all the lost boys for so long and now I finally started it. I really like the whole Peter Pan story and since I do drawings about the story every now and then I thought it would be smart to actually design the characters first. That way I can just look back at these designs whenever I'm drawing a scene from the book.
For this project I wanted to stay very close to the original story and wanted to show this in the designs of the characters. But I'm also putting my own ideas in the designs and character development. Because let's face it, you just can't help it. You always get your own ideas and inspiration when you connect with a story. So their description (down below) is mixed with facts and my own ideas.

So far I'm very happy how all this turned out. There is only one mistake though. I thought Tootles was the one who gained a little weight which allowed Hook to use his tree to get into the home underground. So I drew him a bit fatter than the other boys. But as I was reading the book I discovered that this was actually Slightly. I don't want to change both Tootles and Slightly's designs because I really like how they look right now so I guess I just have to let this mistake go.

Tootles
Tootles is the most humble of all the boys. This is because most adventures take place when he is looking the other way, or occupied getting firewood or something. He misses out on a lot of adventures which made him humble. He's probably the strongest of all the boys but because of his humble nature, he is not using this power to intimidate others. I also meant for him to be the biggest and tallest of the gang, but after Slightly was drawn I had to put Tootles on a rock to make him bigger. please pretent that the rock is not there and that Tootles is actually the tallest.
weapen of choice: bow and arrow (which he used in the story to shoot Wendy down)

Slightly
After Peter Pan himself, Slightly is the most conceited of the boys. This is because he thinks he remembers more of his life before Neverland than the other boys do. When Slightly's mother left him in a basket she left a note that said "Slightly soiled", which he thinks is his name. He can carve whistles and likes to dance to his own tunes. Slightly likes feathers and dresses himself in feathers to look like a bird. He even made himself some wings out of feathers he has collected. He can't use them to fly, but he likes to pretent that he can, when he flies using pixie dust. I should draw him with his wings some time. Also, he is the most loyal to Peter and tries to stay at his good side at all times.
Weapon of choice: Pointy sword

Curly
Curly is the trouble maker in the group. Sure he looks sweet, but he can never say no to a prank. He even sometimes teams up with Indians to manage some mischief. They gave him a poncho which he proudly wears. Whenever Peter demands to be informed who is responsible for trouble, Curly automatically steps forward. Whether he did it or not.
Because he has so much curly hair, he often has all kinds of things stuck in there. Leafs, twigs, bugs, feathers, you name it. He doesn't mind though. Most of the time he puts this stuff in his hair for fun. He has a small bag filled with little bombs that smell really bad once they explode. It's not in this drawing but I will draw it some time.
Weapon of choice: Dagger
