i'd like to say to start out that i am an abstract painter and this is my favorite kind of painting.

the background textures are excellent, they look like a skin disease. it seems that some areas are less textured than others. what did you do to get that effect, or is it just paint. what did you paint it on?
the areas of definition, like the cross and the squares are a nice subtle contrast to the more diffuse areas. the color scheme is good, complimentary colors with a few little surprises tucked in there. the red oxide is my favorite color in this, followed closely by yellow ochre (i'm guessing those were the colors you used). the drips are interesting, makes it seems like the painting might stretch far below the bottom of the picture.

it really seems to flow top to bottom. the bottom is fairly simple while the top has a lot more going on, and in much more intense and light than the bottom.

i can see this as a wall hanging, a fresco, a painting on rough stone, it looks old, in a good way, sort of like it's been around for many many years, maybe a peek into the past.

i can feel that the subject is close to the art/inspiration for the art. it looks like it took a long time, and done in many sessions.

overall, i love this painting. it's well executed and quite powerful. it appealed to me immediately and i found looking at it for quite awhile satisfying. great work!
