Description ... produced this pic.
I found a whole new patch amongst the moss. These are quite large. And so gorgeous!

I spent a good half hour sprawled on a towel, trying to avoid the leeches, to get this pic
I did get back to the kindling... eventually.

I chose this photograph simply because it IS my favourite. I think it shows a step up in my photographic skills. Getting the lighting right, a composition I LOVE, the depth of focus is just how I like it, and there is a sense of magic and mystery to it that I try to capture in all my work (and usually fail! *laughs).
I did spend a long time laying in the mud and brambles in order to get this photo, and I think it shows.

I love this photo. The colors are rich and gorgeous and that we can see the gills of the mushroom in focus is really nice. I actually like the grass arch in the shot. For me, it appears to enhance the effects of scale and proportion; the blade of arched grass looks almost architectural, like a gate to pass through/under to go toward the initial mushroom. The directional power of the mushroom in focus leads us to feel like the final destination is the mushrooms, "WAAYYYY UP THERE!" All of this brings a wonderful sense of altered perspective. Smaller than life? Larger than life? Not sure! Very fantastical!

Normally I would do the same, but this day was particularly wet, and in a very leechy spot.
I don't mind being covered in mud, dirt and the like, but being covered in leeches?
EEErrrrrrggggh!!!

You have a good focal point with the small mushroom. He really brings the attention to the photo and draws the eye up and away to the other mushrooms. The grasses going along the same implied line allows the eye to be drawn back down. The one problem I see is the curved grass. Mainly the grass is a problem due to the implied circle which draws the eye into, but there is no way for the viewer to emerge and enjoy the rest of the scene.

I think this is beautiful and certainly eye catching.

Thankyou for taking the time to write a more in-depth comment! I very much appreciate it.

I do find that curve of grass frustrating. Unfortunately I couldn't get a good enough view while taking the photo to notice it.
I was already lying flat on my belly in the moss with my head in the dirt To be honest I'm suprised I managed to get a decent shot at all!

Thankyou again.
