Description "German Springback" bound with 90(ish) pages, gold edged and round-cornered. (All by hand! No fancy edge-cutters for me. Trusty scalpel and a cotton reel.)
Covered in hand-dyed chamois leather. Yip, that is the soft thin yellow leather you clean your car with.
Hand-embriodered head-bands of gold and green thread. Hand-painted end papers.
Green velvet marker ribbon. Raised circle on the cover, surrounding a knotwork design in gold (yes, I created that too).

12 cms wide
15 cms high
2.5 cms thick

This was an extremely time-consuming and intensive book, not only because of the type of binding, but because I did everything I possibly could do myself.
A Springback tutorial can be found here: [link]
Also, I highly recommend trying out chamois as a covering material. It is soft, supple, cheap, easy to work with, and feels good.

A few tips:

- Wash it really well first. Soak it completely and wash it thoroughly with gentle soap. Rinse well, wring out and hang up to dry out of direct sunlight.

- And, it is easier, when gluing chamois to your book, to lay the glue on the board, not the chamois.

I loved creating this book, it was an absoloute joy. And I'm glad I went for the knotwork on the cover. I taught myself the art years ago, and have gotten away from it lately, so it was good to create that quick knot. I think it is pretty.

And for the curious, my design page for this book: [link]

Oh, also, This type of book is fun to make, and quite easy, but the tutorials I have seen can be unnecessarily confusing. I've been thinking about creating an easier-to-follow tutorial for a book of this type. Let me know if you would be interested in something like that, and if enough people do, I'll put one together.

Lovelove.

This is really beautiful! Love the soft green you achieved using chamois; the gold knotwork compliments the green. Love the rounded corners, I can imagine the careful work you had to do!

Chamois is a very interesting material to work with; I've made a couple of beaded goddess dolls using chamois to make the doll base. It is so nice and soft, stitches easily unlike hard leather, and has a slight stretch to it.

OMG I LOVE IT!!! I totally wish I could have it!! I am an avid notebook collector, I have a giant collection, I am probably close to 150 notebooks. My favourites are the hand made celtic notbooks that I got from the celtic festival and the folk festival, this seriously looks like it was made for my collection. Beatiful Work!

Iยดve always loved this book, and i was wondering what was the original color of the chamois and what type of ink and color you used to dye it?

It is not quite cheap, therefore, he borrows it of his teacher. I hope this he further wants to learn, but he must know this for himself.
