Description So this samurai found this huge pumpkin and decided to rest.. uh meditate.

The calligraphy by mom reads: MUSHIN as in EMPTINESS as known in Buddhism, the ultimate state of mind when one lets go of self and all vanities of this world ^-^

Pumkins are just great... the orange shadows with the brighter white parts... just wonderful!

ohh, sorry for not replying... thank you so so much for the nice words
I think using a saturated color to a shadowy area instead of a dull, "blackish" color makes the painting more alive
