OH MY GOSH! You are awesome!
He left the keepers probably because he know how risky are the work of the keepers... remember the sufferings that they count in his books in the lost city or in the cave before to get to the Opera House.
Garrett is a stronghead thief, and he just want to be alone and make his own life of thievery without commitments, without keepers, without thieves guild, pagans or hammers.

Yes! and that is the reason he's my favourite character in the game, he's a solitaire guy who hate to take orders from someone xD.
Well, good work, i wish i could draw like you
and i send you greetings!

Cool drawingt, Garrett as we know him. From the title the first thing that came to mind was this song:

Wonder if it fits the mood you had when drawing the picture.

Well, well, this is pretty awesome. What is your theory?

Thanks!
Well, I think that Garrett never really respected the ways of the Keepers. He was picked up old enough to understand to question the reasons. I mean, he had been picking pockets and running messages and so for years already. He had learnt that life wasn't easy, and that the world is a cruel place. I think that he didn't like the fact that the Keepers had all that knowledge in their possession, but no intention nor interest to use it "right." Why he had to suffer so much as a young boy - why there was such unfairness, corruption and poverty within the society in general? -, when there were people with knowledge and ability (i.e. magical glyphs and all) to help those in need, those like him? I think that he found the protocol of the Keepers very cold and cruel, as they refrained from any interference with the surrounding society -- and Garrett, who had experienced poverty and the unfairness of the system, probably enjoyed the thought of interfering, like teaching a lesson to corrupt nobles and greedy crime lords. So, there was some bitterness and fiery temper of a young man involved too.
tl;dr: Garrett got tired of their bullshit, and thus left the organization.

Hmmm, perhaps this is true. It's an interesting theory, and fits with him leaving for anger the greater folly.

you're welcome ^^ I think you do an awesome job at it, love how accurate it is to the few times his attire was somewhat visible in the cut-scenes and cover art ^^

Well, I mostly use these two (1 & 2 ) pictures as references when I draw his clothes, so I think it's a mix of those. xD I don't know, the main character from Thi4f has so... distinctive attire, that I kinda feel the need to be as faithful to ol' Garrett's design as possible. Of course some details may vary on my pictures, but I refuse to believe that he only has one outfit in his wardrobe. xDD

Yeah, that would be awesome. But I don't believe we will ever get proper Thief 4. Personally though, I think that DS gave a good ending to the series, and the future of Garrett was left for the players to imagine, which I appreciate very much.

Some of the fan missions are absolutely brilliant and beat some of the original missions 100-0. If you ever decide to try them, I'd recommend skacky's missions "Between These Dark Walls" and "Endless Rain" (<-- that's so freaking good I play it again time to time just for the atmosphere and climbing and rain ) or campaign called "Gems of Provenance" by StinkyKitty. They're all for Thief Gold, but there's tons of FMs more for Thief 2 out there. And if you enjoy Let's Play videos, well, FenPhoenix plays Thief and Dark Mod missions on his channel, and there's new video almost every day. There are some other Thief let's players too (like Klatremus and Nexus Letum), but Fen is my personal favourite. :3
I discovered Thief a few years ago too! I'd say, 4 or 5 years ago..? Have been practically living in The City since then. I started to play FMs only like 2 years ago though, and I still haven't played Thief 2X (I know, shame on me). I've played some The Dark Mod missions too, but I kinda prefer Thief FMs. The movement in TDM feels really heavy for some reason. P: However, I love it how you can climb basically anywhere in TDM!
