Hehe I like how Sonic's like the annoying, yet still caring big brother.

Don't worry Tails. Your games ain't no worse than 2006, Boom, R, Labyrinth, both Drifts and yes, Forces for good reasons. XD

FoxGamer13 In reply to PBJArts [2017-12-11 16:15:18 +0000 UTC]
Forces is good and bad, depending on what you think. '06 is a given. Boom is only good because of the cartoon. R was terrible. But Labyrinth was a guilty pleasure for me when I was little, because I had Sonic Mega Collection Plus on PS2. But when will Tails get a year all to himself like Luigi?

So Forces is neither. I would've chosen Unleashed or Generations 3DS over it.

Well, it's good, just not enough to put Sonic back on the map. But Unleashed is one of my favorites as well. It sold me solely for the Werehog.

I mean, the Werehog wasn't a bad idea. Just dragged out and somewhat repetitive. But I've seen worse level padding than that.

We've all seen worse level design than that.

The levels were short, not necessarily bad. I was thinking of City Escape ('06) because I think the physics in that level were HORRID.

PBJArts In reply to FoxGamer13 [2017-12-12 14:55:53 +0000 UTC]
City Escape was from Adventure 2, I think. XD But Forces has far too many short levels in very few locations for a so called "worldwide takeover" from Eggman. But the ONLY place I see destroyed in the entire world is this one town...thats it. Modern Warfare 3 had a lot more locations under siege thanΒ this game.

Quite so. I wish Sonic Team would develop a game worthy of their moniker "Welcome To The Next Level". It hasn't happened yet, even through Sonic's illustrious career.

Nope and may not ever will until someone like Christian Whitehead is in charge.

There's no doubt that Whitehead is good, but what would happen if he was given a 3-D Sonic title to work with?

I'm all for a third Adventure, but that would be SEGA's last ditch effort to save the company. And I do remember Eggman's apprentice. But what if they did a second Mean Bean Machine?

PBJArts In reply to FoxGamer13 [2017-12-14 13:39:03 +0000 UTC]
Mean Bean Machine? Not familiar with.
Also, I think Sega shouldn't be trusted to do Adventure 3 at all seeing that they keep f-ing up even after they figured things out.

FoxGamer13 In reply to PBJArts [2017-12-14 14:31:05 +0000 UTC]
The reason why Forces failed is the advertising campaign. Hooters was a bad choice, to be honest, but it got a good reception. They need more adverts on television and a better sponsorship next time. Mean Bean Machine is the Puyo Puyo based Sonic game that was released in the 90's and was the the only game to feature references to the SatAM cartoon, and also appeared as the Chemical Plant special boss in Mania. SEGA is only messing up because not enough people can trust them because ONE. SIMPLE. MISTAKE. And that mistake turned into a catastrophe that broke the only known mascot left for them. '06 crippled Sonic before we knew something was wrong. Now, he is on "Life Support", so to speak. He needs a game that is the defibrillator for the franchise. A game that is worthy of getting an accolades trailer.

Oh no. Advertisement of the game itself was only part the problem, Hooters had nothing to do with it. The broken street release and then the afterthought of the game itself being so painfully mediocre, short, lazy and rushed that I'm shocked but also not as shocked to see some fans call it a great game without even analyzing it thoroughly and closely, plot wise and design.
People don't trust Sega not only because of one bad game but because A. They're trying too muck on the gimmicky side and B. Not listening to what the fans want. You can argue Generations but truth be told, that game is about as safe and basic as it can get. Then afterwards when people though they had it figured out, they f*** it up again for another few to several games. Sonic hasn't been the same or great since 2001 on the main console side. He was safe and better on Nintendo's portable with Advance trilogy and Rush. Forces changes nothing from their ongoing resume of mediocrity. You thank Mania for being great because the fans made it for the fans, knowing exactly how to handle and deliver Sonic THE RIGHT WAY, not because it's 2D which is what I'll bet Sega is thinking right now that people only want THAT kind of Sonic when the fact is, they suck at handling Sonic now and all we all is good functional games with a sense of plot that has us motivated to invest in him like Adventure 1/2 did. Now it's just one garbage after another pleasing kids with barebone story filled with terrible jokes and inconsistencies with the main canon.

I understand, and agree with you. The only advertising of Forces I noticed was on YouTube, nowhere else. The broken street release was a huge pain for me, as I also haven't gotten Forces yet. They have been using gimmicks more often to see what works. I know when they do listen to the fans, the outpouring of support for them is insane. They do need to finish the main canon, but make it better than Forces. I know Forces has it's flaws, with levels, story, and glitches that only happen when you want them to. But the Hero Creator needs to be implemented in a different Sonic game down the road. Sonic is just hanging by a thread in terms of fame, and he just might become, if not saved, a flash in the pan.

The OC creator was purely a gimmick cash grab to lure whatever DeviantART Sonic fans it can get because there's alarmingly so many but sad that it didn't lure the slimmest margin. lol It's sad that it was just made that way and have the OC behave exactly like Sonic which makes zero sense. Also, why isn't there a Bat, Croc or Echidna options? XP

I agree with half of that. But it should've been better, and it wasn't. I've come to terms with Forces being mediocre. Will that stop me from enjoying it? Hell no. Your opinion is what matters... If it's justified. Forces just couldn't hold the hype on it's shoulders.

PBJArts In reply to FoxGamer13 [2017-12-15 03:18:58 +0000 UTC]
I don't think there was any hype to begin with. Every single footage since the reveal has been the exact same thing and that is what started to put the fans at an uneasy position. Then came the leaks and the final nail in the coffin, the game itself. No wonder it dropped to $30 in just 15 days.

Well, I gave it a chance like any sane fan would but I just find it disappointing and there's no way to hide it's painfully obvious drawbacks. XP I'm happy you find some enjoyment and not calling you out over it. It's unnecessary. XP

Thanks. I'm glad we can find common ground. Overall, Sonic and the franchise associated with him is just going through a phase where everything is "meh". I'm happy, but also curious if and why he didn't turn out like Mega Man, or he might've had some gas left in the tank otherwise. Only time will tell, and I'm waiting to see the fate of the fastest thing alive.
