Well it depends on a lot of factors. And I still need to know how long it took you to complete this commission. = )
For something like this, I'd say $15-20 minimum. But that's a suggestion.

Let me see... I started to sketch it some days ago, I started with the face and only the face took like 10 minutes 
.o.; the usual cost of a picture with too characters is less than that ;u; hahaha

Well the important thing is that so long as you're doing this for recreation there is no problem spending a large amount of time on it - because you are genuinely enjoying the process! = )
If you need the money to pay the bills (which I can safely assume you are not in such a position) then it will matter how many hours it'll take to finish that artwork and relate it to how much your service/effort is valued in terms of a dollar figure.
In your case people were paying you to do a good standard piece of artwork for $1.25 an hour.
So if you're cool with that then continue to do what you're doing! = )
