What I got from this....
Shadow felt the familiar thrum of chaos energy rushing through him, responding to his bubbling rage. How DARE he act like he understood! How DARE he try to act like he's felt this kind of pain before!! No one could be so... so... HAPPY and CARE-FREE, if they had lived what he had! It scars a person. It changes them. How they think. How they act. He's seen it. He's LIVED it. He can see the signs for it....
Sonic isn't scarred.
"You don't know the MEANING of pain, faker.", Shadow hissed venomously. That made the hedgehog in front of him pause. Yes, Sonic the Hedgehog PAUSED. A deep breath was heard before he whipped around as fast as his name-stake and was nose-to-nose with Shadow before he could even blink. Such rare negative emotion shone in the emerald eyes as they darkened to a hard jade, that it sent Shadow mentally reeling, though was physically impassive as ever. The dark surroundings made the usually blue hedgehog look like a mix between black and very dark navy blue.
"How would you know, Shadow? Who are you to judge what I have and haven't experienced?" Sonic jabbed a thumb at himself, his voice soft yet harder than a chaos emerald. Was it just him, or was there a dark aura outlining his rival? "I've seen my entire family murdered in front of me when I was five years old. I've seen many friends fall, because I was to WEAK, to SLOW, to do anything about it. I was tormented because I was UNNATURAL, and NEVER trusted. Because I was a freak of nature. Tell me this Shadow.... Have you EVER seen or even heard of a blue hedgehog other than myself?"
The feeling of darkness was becoming suffocating, yet Shadow remained stoic. He had been wrong. There WERE scars.... The name 'Faker' rang truer for Sonic than he had ever realized.
He blinked as the hedgehog in front of him took another deep breath, closing his eyes, and clenching his fists. After a moment, he let out the breath and relaxed himself, slowly opening his once again emerald eyes. The feeling of darkness vanished like morning dew.
"Let's get this over with. I need to go for a run." And with that, the mystery known as Sonic the Hedgehog was off in a blue blur to their destination. Shadow stood there for a moment, still slightly reeling over what Sonic had said. With a shake of his head, he raced after him, and pushed all that to the back of his mind for later. Yet, no matter how hard he tried, the image of Sonic's eyes hardening into chips of jade and the darkness he had felt coming off of him stayed with him for the rest of the mission and onto the following days afterwards.

Sonic Fanfic: Connnected Chapter 1Hey all! Hawk here! ^.^
So, this is a new Sonic fanfic (yeah, I'm hooked on Sonic Fanfics. Bite Me. -.-) that I stayed up to about midnight to write out in my (partly used) note-book because a very persistent plot bunny would not leave me alone.
Disclaimer: MINE! (Just kidding. If I did own them, I would at least try to put more Dark Sonic in there. :3)
