Description As the title suggests, I will be explaining myself and my views in relation to MLP:FiM and, more specifically, bronies. And I would like to preface this with a warning and a clarification. Also, I don't feel as though I am breaking any rules as I am keeping my cursing to a minimum as well as this isn't anything that is saying "go out and harass these people" or something similar. However, if you see anything within this article that is against the DA rules, PLEASE let me know (even if you disagree with me) so I can edit it, as I was banned once, and I don't want to be banned again for expressing mine OPINION.

First off, I am going to try very hard to contain myself and not curse like I like to. However, I won't say that this will be devoid of foul language, as sometimes there really is no better way to express yourself than to yell the F word as loud as you possibly can.

Secondly, this is MY beef. MINE. The following words, sentences, and paragraphs are MY OPINIONS. Opinions, meaning, what I THINK, how I FEEL, and how I VIEW things. Am I asking you to agree? Hell, no. Will you disagree with some or all of what I'm saying? Probably. But as I respect your right to your own opinions and the ability to express said opinions, I expect YOU to respect my right to have my own opinions and the ability to express them. This is how I see things, and you can see things differently. If you wish to banter with me, I'm all for it. But if you leave a comment going, "YOU'RE WRONG THAT'S NOT HOW IT IS AT ALL YOU IGNORAMUS," you will be ignored. If you're not going to be intelligent, then you deserve no attention. (Please note that I am disabling comments for a ariety of reasons. Don't think it's because I fear what you have to say. If it's REALLY that important to you, send me a note.)

Additionally, this is not an attack on you personally. I am not looking you in the face going "HEY SCREW YOU PONY SCUM." Every brony is different. Some people like the show more than others do, some express it more than others. This is how I feel on a GENERAL level. And as bronies being different, us anti-bronies are different also. MY words do not represent the words of EVERY person that dislikes MLP:FiM. Some may agree. Others might not. Basically, don't take my words and run with them.

Now that that's out of the way, down to business. *REASONS WHY I DESPISE BRONIES* (Reasons will be numbered and explained, but they are in no particular order. They are all equal in reasons for my hate - but this format makes it easier to follow.)

1. "Well if you don't like it, just click the back button. Nobody is FORCING you to look." AKA - THEY'RE EVERYWHERE.
You're right. Nobody is FORCING me to look. Nobody is pulling up these images on my computer and slamming my face into the monitor screaming "LOOK, LOOK YOU FOOL GAZE UPON THE IMAGE OF PURE COOLNESS AND THEN YOU WILL FINALLY UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF 'SWAG'!!!!" Probably because if anyone did, they know their face would resemble bloody hamburger, but I digress. But on the other hand, do you really think I sit here and type "ML:FiM" into my various search bars and then rage when everything is pony? "GODDAMN IT THIS SEARCH QUERY ENDED UP SHOWING ME THINGS RELATED TO WHAT I TYPED INTO THE SEARCH BAR, THIS IS RIDICULOUS GODDAMN THEM!!" ...Do you realize how utterly stupid that is? I'm not one of those anti-bronies that sits there and hunts out bronies and pony related pictures only to bitch whine and complain about it. Trust me, I would be more than happy, ecstatic even, if I never saw a pony again in my life, and you can bet your fat little ass I don't go out looking for pictures of the little shitlins you guys love so much.

But no matter where I go, what I type in, what I search, I will, sooner rather than later, end up with a brightly colored pony with a shit eating grin "gracing" my computer screen. Load up DA and they're on the front page. Load up FA and they're RIGHT THERE on the front page. Go to YouTube, there's videos. Read YouTube comments, and all you get is "HURRR BROHOOF /)", "DURR BRONY 4EVER", "LOL PINKIE PIE IS BEST PONY," and "EVERYPONY GET IN HERE!!". And these comments are on things that ARE IN NO WAY RELATED TO PONIES. And I have a friend that is an AVID brony. Has some merch, has his Facebook profile as Rainbow Dash, the TV show is on his Top Rated on Netflix, everything. Recently he changed his Steam name to "Rainbow Dash", and now every singly time he loads a game I get a little pop-up saying "[MLP] Rainbow Dash is playing Terraria" or whatever game he's currently playing. And he switches games CONSTANTLY. You think I asked for that? I can't even walk through the store without something pony related staring me down.

So no, no one is forcing me to look. But it's more than a little difficult to just "click the back button" to avoid something that's always there. That's like handing someone an active beehive and saying "oh, just ignore the bees. No one is FORCING you to notice the bees."

2. "I will love and tolerate the shit out of you." AKA - no one seems to understand what "love" or "tolerate" means.
I've seen it time, and time again. "Oh, you don't like ponies? HOW DARE YOU! HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE PONIES?! WELL NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO LOOK! FUCK YOU AND YOUR ANTI-BRONYISM! YOU CAN HATE ALL YOU WANT, I'LL JUST LOVE AND TOLERATE THE SHIT OUT OF YOU!!" I dunno what your guys' version of "love" is, but last time I checked, you don't tell someone you "love" to go fuck themselves. Now and again I actually DO come across someone that simply replies to an anti-brony comment with "You can think what you want, I'll love and tolerate you for it." and they leave it at that. THOSE people know the meaning of those two words (smart guys have probably read a book or two outside of a class assignment). But "love and tolerate" seems more like a mantra for butthurt (no, screw your 'flankhurt' bullshit) bronies to hide behind when they have no real argument other than to curse and swear at you. They don't want to give bronies a bad name, of course, so they obviously have to tack LOVE AND TOLERATE 4EVER to the end of their delightful little comment, lest they sound like INtolerant (gasp) illiterates. Or they will sit there and whine and badger you about WHY you don't like bronies, and about HOW COULD YOU NOT like MLP, and they'll try to harass you into watching the show. Does that sound like tolerance to you? It seems as though if they REALLY were going to love and tolerate me, they wouldn't be cursing at or badgering me.

3. "Oh? You hate MLP? So lulzy, better spam your page with them. Wait, you weren't kidding, you actually HATE MLP? WELL WHY THAT'S JUST IRRATIONAL!!" AKA - Everything is a joke, hate means love, and if you make it clear you're not kidding, suddenly you're the next Hitler.
I have MANY friends that are bronies. And to be honest, I couldn't give two shits. But it irritates the fuck out of me when I log into Facebook and I have pony picture upon pony picture clogging up my news feed. And so I ended up telling two people, two of my good friends, that I was hiding their posts from my feed and that if I needed to know anything that I'll miss because of it that they'll need to text me. I just left it at that.

But of course, one of them wanted to know WHY. He didn't know, until that point, that I can't really stand ponies or bronies. So I told him it was because of all the pony related stuff he posted. His reply? "Oh, well, I didn't know you didn't like MLP. That's weird but okay." I THOUGHT that was the end of it. Well, a couple days later I jump on the Facebooks and I'm tagged in a post. So I click on the notification, and he had tagged me in a comment, in which he posted a picture of a pony, and said "I'm only posting this because I know it will piss Kotaro off". Literally word for word that is what he typed. So I, in my quick witted rage, typed back "Anon, I don't hate MLP in a 'LOL OMG I HAAAET THEM LUL' kind of way, but in a 'I will literally stop being your friend kind of way'." This, of course, sparked a fight between us. Luckily, we were able to resolve it, but he simply could not deal with my "unreasonable" hate, and he compared my hatred of fictional cartoon ponies with the hatred of actual gay people that some people have.

And I had another friend, who similarly posted a bunch of pony pics to my wall (pics he thought I would think to be funny). After telling him that not only did I NOT think they were funny, but instead rather tasteless, and that I was displeased with him for what he had done, he learned not to mess with me and I haven't had an issue with him since.

Just the other day I changed my Steam name to "Rainbow Dash Licks Dicks" to counteract my friend making his Steam name "Rainbow Dash". He's an avid MLP fan indeed, but I know he can handle a jab like this and I know he'll take it for what it's meant as. Indeed, I despise bronies, but I'm more or less poking fun at him, even if it seems as though it's more malicious than that. At any rate, I had a different friend message me about it. We got into the usual "discussion" about bronies, even though he is not a brony. A friend of his wears MLP t-shirts all the time, and he was telling me about how his friend got bullied because of it. Someone called him gay for it. Now, while I wouldn't participate in any activities such as bullying, and it sucks that it happened to that guy, I don't particularly care that it happened. Do I like that it happened? No. But do I care? Again, no. I expressed this thought to my friend and he got incensed by it, which it completely understandable. However, he questioned my reasoning for my hate and I told him to wait, as I would be posting this very article quite soon. Now, he was getting on my case because hating someone for liking a show isn't very ethical, and right on my front page on my "Featured" gallery widget I have typed up "Don't judge me by what you see here, go through my gallery before you decide I suck", but here I was judging someone based on a SHIRT they were wearing. It's a very valid case and it makes me out to be a raging hypocrite. However, he told me some few sentences later, that I could judge people and be ignorant if I wanted to. And mind you, he didn't wait to read what I'm typing. Seems kinda funny don't it?

And again I had another delightful friend (with whom I am very pleased to say I am no longer affiliated), who was again, a brony, and we often butted heads over MLP. Once, I ended up saying something negative towards bronies to him, in a general statement, not directed towards him, in a context about something else, and he completely lost it. He enjoyed tagging me in pony pics, posting them to my wall, and making frequent references towards bronies and MLP, but as soon as I said something that was not positive about them, he couldn't handle it. But this one time, the time in which I made a general comment in context with something unrelated to him, he got incredibly upset and spent the entire time calling me a bigot. No, really. That was his only argument. "You're a bigot." Keep in mind that he never bothered to ask me why I am so anti-brony, he just say there running around like a chicken with it's head cut off, screaming "bigot" every five seconds. SIMPLY because I mentioned something negative about bronies. Indeed, I was at fault as well for making a comment like that to him, but to go so far as to call me a BIGOT because of it is simply... Hilarious. So, bronies, remember to love and tolerate the bigots in your life!

4. "OMG EWWW PONY PORN NOT COOL GUISE, NOT COOL!" AKA - I'm new to the internet and have never heard of "rule 34" before.
In generally browsing through various comments, I come across bronies that are simply disgusted with all the pony porn in the world. It makes me laugh, but it's also pretty irritating. "Rule 34 - if it exists, there's porn of it." Literally. There is porn of everything from Harry Potter to oil drums, silverware to yes, you guessed it, MLP. And if someone is going to spend the time drawing airplanes in the midst of lusty passions, what makes you think that your beloved ponies would be exempt from this age-old rule? I mean, hey. No one is FORCING you to look at it. Just hit the back button.

5. "Hey guise, check out my kawaii ponysona!!" AKA - Hey guise, check out this kawaii pony lineart I recolored!
There is basically NO diversity in the pony fandom. Look at it this way. Let's say you want to draw/write a super awesome fanfic/comic, based on a fandom. You need characters, but which fandom will they hail from? Well, let's see. There's furry; you could have a pink OTTER, an orange FOX, or maybe a purple KANGAROO. Or, you could make it mythical and have a blue KITSUNE, a black DRAGON, and... a palomino CENTAUR. Or, let's go with the overrated and overdone Happy Tree Friends, Sonic, and Pokemon characters. You could have a green BUNNY, a pink RACCOON, and a yellow BEAR. You could have a blue ECHIDNA, a red HEDGEHOG, and a lime green BAT. Maybe you want a black CHARIZARD, a white MEWTWO, and a purple RAICHU. Now, let's see what your options are for a pony version. Let's see.. yellow PONY, pink PONY, blue PONY. If there's other animals in MLP (not including pets), then I haven't heard of them, much less seen any cute "original" versions of it. Never seen an orange/blue "Spike" (renamed Angst because he can't get Kawaii Desu to be his girlfriend) trollin' around before.

6. "YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO HATE THE FANDOM OR THE SHOW UNLESS YOU'VE SEEN IT BEFORE." AKA - your opinion is invalid unless you waste 20 minutes of your life.
This is another favorite rebuttal for bronies to make when faced with an opponent. "Well I don't care what you say, you can't hate something you've never seen." True enough. Doesn't mean I can't hate you and your actions in relation to the show. HOWEVER. I HAVE watched the show. I was hanging out with Nathan and I decided hey, why not try it. See what all the hype is about. We watched the first episode, or the one about Rarity and making dresses for her friends. And while I thought the opening title to be horrendously annoying, I can't say the show was half bad. Pointless, and rather silly, not my cup of tea, but not terrible. I thought to myself that I might enjoy this more if I was younger… And then I was reminded of the fact that there are middle aged men and teenagers out there that are fangirling over the show, and I KID YOU NOT, I became sick to my stomach. I simply cannot fathom why anyone over the age of 9 would even care about which pony gets which dress. Anyway, you tell a brony that you've already watched their silly little show and half of them act shocked and baffled when you're not won over by bubblegum "ponies" with high pitched annoying voices. And I air quote "ponies" because the more I look at them the less they look like actual ponies, but that's a small irrelevant point. At any rate, I guess you DO have to experience something firsthand before you can judge it. I know firsthand how unacceptable it is to hate a black person unless you've actually BEEN a black person, for sure. (Note that I am not racist in the slightest, just using a very loose and poor comparison that half of you will likely not understand.)

7. "I'M A PONY, HEAR ME ROAR!!... Yay!" AKA – LOOK EVERYONE, I'M SEXUALLY CONFUSED AND I THOUGHT YOU ALL SHOULD KNOW!
(Okay, so I had to use the term "sexually confused" instead of "faggot" because I know how offended non gays get by being called a derogatory name meant for gay people. Hey, I get it, you like rainbow ponies, you dye your hair pink, but you're straight. I TOTALLY understand how not-gay you are.) This ties into one of the explanations I mentioned in Reason 1. You know, the one about ponies making comments on YouTube all the time? Yeah. Well, I get it. Once a brony, always a brony, right? Want to make connections with all your little butt-buddies brony friends, doncha? I get it, man. It's fun to meet up with like-minded people and talk about mutual interests. Whenever I see a furry that lives in Colorado, I get all excited and giddy and happy, like YAY I'M NOT ALOOOONE!!... But I don't go everywhere and post comments to places that aren't related to my love for Colorado furs saying things like "Colorado forever!", "YO WHRE MY FELLOW COLORADAN FURS AT?!", "Everyfur get in here!!", or "I'm a Colorado fur. HIGH PAW!!" mostly because I'm not a fucking moron I know that there is a time and place for these types of comments, and a YouTube video about Dr. Mario is definitely not the time, NOR the place. Bronies are proud of who they are. And they should be, they have every right to be. But they spread their pride about like a horny, un-neutered mutt with dog AIDS spreads his dog HIV at a breeding convention. And you know what? NOBODY FUCKING CARES. When I go to watch a video about pythons, or DeX: HR, I don't want to see your stupid little comments about ponies. Why? Mostly because ponies have NOTHING to do with the video I'm watching. You want to find other bronies, eh? They why the fuck are you on a Weebl video? I know that if I want to find other reptile enthusiasts, I'm going to go to a reptile forum, or to videos about REPTILES. I'm not going to sit there and go to a video about Cinnamon Toast Crunch and post "YEAH PYTHONS FOREVER!!" Sitting there and bragging about being a brony is like running through a mall on December 23 or 24 at 1pm screaming and flailing about a pair of pants you got at WalMart. Chances are everyone has a pair of pants, half have the very pair you're talking about, and only a handful give a shit about you and your pants. The result? Most everyone there now thinks you're an annoying twat.

8. "It's not just a children's show. It's got references and adult themes packed into it so it's suitable for ALL ages." AKA – Hey guise! I just figured out how to work the TV! Where's my positive reinforcement at?!
…Really? REALLY? THIS is the argument you're using to defend your greasy 40-year-old self for watching the show? No, really. Seriously. Basically, if someone attacks you with "IT'S A KID'S SHOW!" and you reply with the "references and themes" argument, you probably have the IQ of a pile of dog crap. Either that, or you're new to the whole "tv" thing and MLP is the only thing you've ever watched. If you seriously think that MLP is the first and only show to integrate references and more adult type (not 'adult' as in XXX, but 'adult' as in concepts that fly over children's heads) themes, I worry for the state of this nation. Honestly. All you have to do is pay even the smallest grain of attention to any kids' show and you can kind all kinds of adult friendly things. Even MOVIES do this. No, I'm not talking about all the Disney conspiracies. Take the movie "Rango", for example. I was unaware of all the "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" references they made in that movie, until AFTER I had actually watched "Fear and Loathing", but I still enjoyed the movie nonetheless. It's the same with kids. Producers make the concept simple, enjoyable, and easy to follow, but they slip in all sorts of things so that if a parent decides to watch with their kid they're not bored. So yes. The show might be "all age friendly" (though I don't know for the life of me why anyone over 8 would wish to watch it). But using this as an argument is just plain stupid and to me, it makes anyone using it look ignorant. Your show is not as special as you think it is, sorry "kids".

9. "Just because I am a man and a brony, does NOT make me gay." AKA – I'm just a little SENSITIVE is all, jeez.
Okay, so, I often refer to bronies as "faggots" and words of similar meaning. And some people take this as me having a huge thing against gay people. Well, I'm here to inform you that that is the farthest thing from the truth. I have several gay friends, one of which is my BEST friend. I defend gay rights, with a passion. So then why do I call bronies "gay"? For the same reason anyone calls anything gay. Not because they ARE gay, but because I don't like them. And I find it QUITE grating and irritating when a MAN or a TEENAGER dyes their hair pink or wears a rainbow tail but then gets upset when people call them gay as in homosexual. I dress very androgynous, that is to say, I wear a lot of men's clothing. Tripp pants are my favorite, and there is simply nothing comfier than a t-shirt and an oversized jacket (except maybe PJ's). I know that all this baggy clothing can confuse people as to what my gender is. So when I hear a little kid ask their mommy if I'm a girl or a guy, I don't flip out. When someone is confused when talking to me or looks at me funny because of how I dress, I don't sit there and throw a fit because they don't know my gender or approve of how I dress. When I wear my ears and tail around, I get about as many negative comments as I do positive ones. And when faced with the negatives I don't fold my arms, cry, and tell them to cut it out, or that wearing a tail doesn't mean that I have "relations" with animals. Why? Because I'm not immature. I understand that while you shouldn't judge someone by how they look, people will do it anyway. I understand that if I present myself a certain way, that's how I'm going to be perceived. Bronies, however, seem to have little to no grasp on this concept. You call them gay and suddenly it's a tirade about how NOT GAY they are and about how ignorant YOU are and etc etc. Point in case? If you don't want to be called gay, don't dress and act like you're gay.

10. "OMG PONIES ARE THE BEST< PONY IS ALL I EVER ANYTHING NOW!" AKA – I've seen the light, and it tells me to stop drawing everything that isn't pony related.
This one is rather short and to the point, but I've had people that I've been watching that are very excellent and enjoyable artists… That is, they WERE, until introduced to that loathsome show. After they became a fan, their gallery became FLOODED with pony related things and I have seen cases where sadly a person will draw nothing BUT ponies, or they'll slip some pony reference into EVERYTHING. I mean yeah it's cool that you like the show, but I liked all the other work you did too, not just the pony stuff. It's a pretty big let-down when an artist you like refuses to draw anything else than something you distaste. Ah well.

---

In closing, these are the reasons why I hate bronies. I know that us anti-bronies are and can be just as bad as what I've described above, and I am in no way excusing my or any other anti-MLP people's actions. But now, I (and maybe you?) have a nice paper ready to give to anyone that questions my undying hatred. Feel free to share this link with who you wish. If you have any reasons why you hate bronies too, just let me know and I can add them into an *edited* section; though please be aware I do not condone anyone using this for flaming or hating or being derogatory.

I'm just going to go out there and say that this is an entire conglomeration of....I really don't know what to make of it.

Glaring fallacies, over exaggerated generalizations, "first world problems," atrocious double standards, etc.

But the thing that sticks out the most is near the end:

"I am in no way excusing my or any other anti-MLP people's actions."

Then what was the point of you writing that wall of text? You're trying to explain your hatred, are you ACKNOWLEDGING that you have an entirely irrational mentality? or are you just accidentally contradicting yourself? (which you did plenty of up and down your journal).

I should probably clarify - You probably have a good argument, and I'm not saying that what you think is wrong. However, just keep in mind that what I wrote was solely my opinion, and nothing more. I guess if it makes no sense to you, I'm insane.

At any rate, what I meant by your comment having no value is that you brought forth no proof (evidence); someone commented denouncing several of my points, but they did so in a thoughtful manner rather than just blatantly telling me that I have an "entirely irrational mind". Anyway, I am going to disable comments for a variety of reasons. If you would like to continue this conversation, please send me a note

I said I am not excusing my ACTIONS, not my WORDS.

Simply because you PERCEIVE me to be irrational does not mean I AM irrational. Other people agree with me on what I have said. And other disagree on some points, or perhaps all of it. It's completely fine.

Your comment, however, has no value whatsoever. It is, in essence, pointless, and I would appreciate it if you would not comment unless you have something pertinent and thought-provoking to contribute.

I used to like MLP. Until my bro became so effin obsessed with it, and I found him searching up pony porn on MY computer! All of that just ruined it for me. I'm joining "the dark side."

As somebody who likes MLP, but isn't a brony (And also a girl) THANKYOU! OMG!!
I fucking HATE the pony crossovers.
I hate over-reactive bronies and every shit like that!
Specially the bronys who don't know the origins of MLP and bag on the first gens for being a "girls show" but they'll go into the kids section of a toystore and scream like a baby over a pinkiepie doll designed for brushing its mane and playing with it like you would a barbie for little girls!?
Reality check needed.
Faved.

Do people really do that? That's kinda.. Weird... I dunno, I mean people often say that it's more geared towards men, but it just kinda in all honesty creeps me out to think of a grown man playing with a pink pony. I mean, yeah I duuno it's just weird >.<

Thanks for your input

It sounds to me like this is 20% you hating MLP and 80% you hating buckets of MLP being shoved in your face. You certainly do seem to have some pushy friends, and yes, mlp is everywhere. There really is no escaping it.

The only thing I would like to say to your argument is that, from what I know of it having to sell MLP things in my store, the FIM version was actually created specifically for guys and contains guy-humor, hence the bronies. I guess the creator just woke up one day and thought "I want to make a version of my little girl show that men can enjoy!" and he/she did. Very successfully. I would say that I see 5 men (that look and act straight in every way) to every 1 girl or gay guy buying MLP stuff in my store.

So while 7, 8, and 9 might not be entirely justifiable, the rest of your argument certainly stands. I'm quite sorry you have to deal with ponyspam. D:

Well, you would probably know more about it than I would, and if what you say is true that's interesting. I hold no animosity towards the creator, either. Gotta pay the bills somehow!

Also, you may have more experience and insight than myself, and thus why you say that 7, 8, and 9 are unjustifiable, but keep in mind this is based off what i have seen and experienced personally, so to me it makes sense. Thus why i included them, you know? Haha.

Thank you for your insight ! Very interesting

So... does that mean you don't like me? If so that's okay.
I'm a brony, and the fandom is FULL of idiots. But I just hope you never go up to somebrony's page and chew them out for pony art, because then its going too far. I'm just glad you aren't one of those people.

yeah, I never try to force the bronyhood on anyone, but I did teach my niece to like it. She liked the retro, ditzy ponies that have NO VILLIANS. I introduced her to MLPFiM, she NEVER went back XD
But she IS 9.

Well everyone.likes it for similar and different reasons and that is fine. And i mean its one thing to introduce someone to it, but its another to constantly harass people with it you know?

I'm sorry. The generalizations are just silly
Arguments are long and well thought out and most of them I believe are actually true for "some" of the fandom. Not all of them apply to what you've listed.
Pretty nice argument/points. It's just funny when people hate everyone from a community for some of the people.

Well, i tried to make this clear but i suppose i didnt, but i am aware that not everyone is the same. I actually have a lot of friends that are bronies, and im okay with it. I just get incredibly frustrated and irritated with all of it, and so i have come to hate it on a general level.

Its not to say that i cant talk to bronies or befriend one.

And yeah, this only covers SOME of the fandom. Some people do a lot of these, others only a few, and some still none at all. Its just my viewpoint, simply.
