Description alternative title: "Half the Heart to Care"
reductive linoleum cut relief print. Edition 9.

and this is a perfect example of an awful photograph of my work. Sorry about the glare, and color gradation. When I get photoshop, I will try a little harder, I promise!

There's also some details of this in my scraps.

Wow. This is great! How do you get your registration so clean? That's something I struggle with on my reduction prints.

it's usually not-so-clean. I just use a t registration, and I usually have someone help me line up and lay the paper.

always appreciate good colors in relief printing, the one thing I have a lot of trouble with.

Lovely work
Again beautiful marks and a very balanced composition, the colours set it off really well.
With this process of printing do you start with the green,or the dark of the bird?
Cutting away more until you get to the lighter colours?

I see a few dead blackbirds round my way especially round the begining of summer
when the they fight for territory,Its like a crazy furious, vertical, dance(I painted some blackbirds too[link]

very cool, thank you!
I start by carving out the white, and work light to dark. Black is always the last color I print.

Gorgeous~
Now I'm not sure how after-highschool lino works, but do you use 5 different plates? or do you print a whole bunch and then carve the next level?
any way its all amazing, but you knew that.

The latter. That's what makes a relief print "reductive" because you are reducing the same plate. I print around ten at a time (or whatever I can afford in paper!)

and thankyou!

It reminds me of the cover of Chuch Palahniuk's book Lullaby.

A few minor techinal issues don't do anything to take away from the fact that this is another lovely work. Can't wait to see this series (I'm assuming all the bird prints are part of a whole?) together.
