Description This is now complete. The blond is the first appearance of Andreus, my artist. He is a vampire... obviously... but Andreus is also "The Light". That's why he is glowy. Now, I have gifts for you:

The piece of writing below was inspired by this moment and will give you a little insight into what is really happening in the picture. I know it's a little long, but please read it too because it makes them real. there's a song at the bottom that kinda... makes it better, so skip to the bottom and find the link which will bring you to youtube where you can hear it while you read the text. I don't know how it works, I've just been told that the combination of the pieces and the song is... to die for, LOL...

The girl was small and cold... the girl was alone within herself. She had searched for a very long time, and now before her, he stood like a statue with his feral eyes and ivory skin. She furrowed her brow as she realized that that was not it at all. Back lit, he looked like an angel, with his blond hair floating about him like a halo. She had been watching him for weeks and felt her heart flutter when he took a step toward her. He was now unmistakable, and she wondered why she had missed him before. His clothes where not those of a trendy goth boy at all, but the clothes that he had always worn, or as close to it as he could find in what passed for shops this day and age.

"I know what you are..." Her voice was very small, almost a whisper into the shadows, and he stepped closer. He didn't speak, but just fed her with the light glow of his eyes. Was it hunger that she saw there? Was it lust? She knew in an instant that it was neither. It was pain and torment. It was him fighting with himself and each step toward her was him losing.

"I know what you want... and..." Her voice was louder now but quavered like a flag in a changing breeze. His fists released and she didn't even see him move. He was so cold and she melted into him like she imagined she would have her own comfortable coffin. There was no breath upon her throat, there was no escape, and she wouldn't have tried, even now. This is what she wanted.

"... I want you to take it." His hair brushed her face and her breath caught in her throat when she finished speaking. He just stood there with his arms around her and his cold flesh pressed into hers. She wondered if that was what it would be like to lay down next to a corpse. She wondered if it was going to hurt when he...

"This is going to hurt. I'm not like some mosquito that can numb you until I've had my way with you." His voice was thick in her ear, soft and loud like distant thunder and the smell of him finally reached her, like dried roses flaking into the wind. Had he read her thoughts? How had he known?

"I'm used to pain." Now she sounded strong because it was true. A thousand alters crashed into her mind: Unwilling partings, death, blood, all the times her soul had been laid bare by the taking of her flesh when she used to have the will to fight, a thousand razor cuts, all in the name of pulling herself out of her own personal hell. There was nothing that could hurt more than falling into the memories that lurked in her mind.

She was jolted painfully back into his arms by the sharpness that penetrated her neck. Even in the grips of his blood lust he was gentle and held her as though she were a delicate doll. She could feel the flesh of her neck rip, but she knew from her own self mutilation that he was holding back... he was only drawing blood, and that he was ripping just enough so that it would clot and she would be spared.

"Kill me." She spoke into the side of his soft cold face and at once felt him go rigid. He stopped and was still with his eyes closed and her blood dripping from is chin. His expression became more and more grave. She stretched her arm up about his neck and shoulders and leaned back so that her lips were even with his lightly pointed ears. She asked him again... because she knew that it would be harder for him to say no. His hands trembled and she could feel razor sharp claws slice through the cloth of her sleeve though they were gone nearly as quickly as they'd appeared.

"Never." But his mouth strayed up her arm and his teeth found the inside or her elbow. Why would he not let himself go? Was she not even worth death? This was nothing like the movies. He was able to restrain himself, and though cold, she felt as though some warmth had blossomed in her mind. She felt like she was falling... and way down deep in the places that she thought only darkness could dwell, a voice rose above the pain of her past. A voice that was so quiet and loud, though she could not make out the words. His hand wrapped around her elbow and she could tell that he was almost lost, that he was falling too, and that he might destroy her beyond repair before he could make himself stop. It hurt like making love, so close, and she could feel hot tears ruining her dark makeup. She felt so so lost.

"Stay with me..." His voice was startling and forced her to blink through the pain which had slowly begun to abate despite that her wounds were fresh. His hands still shook gently and the voice that had been growing warmly in her mind, now mirrored his question. "Stay" it begged and she could sense his will inside her. She could feel his rigid body melting into hers and turning them both into some lukewarm soup. His trembling fingers were wiping her tears and at once she felt like she had made a huge mistake: to hurt him by making herself food. "Please" his feral eyes begged and she knew that's what they'd been saying all along. He was fear... and mirrored her pain with his body, his torture, his sorrow that he had taken one step and then another, instead of running from her and suffering for his hunger later. He didn't want to, he hadn't meant to, and he would never...

"Yes."

Last I want to share the link to the song that inspired this right at a crucial moment in its creation, and in a matter of one listen through turned the Vampire in the picture into Andrus and spawned that bit of writing: [link]

I used a reference for the wings and such
~faithslayer, but it ended up not fitting so it was just a reference for the digital painting that I did. The background is all me too just digital stuff. May add some stars if the people who asked me to make it use it in their book. I hope they do cause it was... about 30 maybe more hours on this.

** edit** she needed stockings and, because of a long discussion I had on facebook, I decided to interject a bit of color into that sky. I think it adds a little depth too. Thank you for looking at all my notes!

I decided to enter this into this contest after a lovely comment by one of the moderators in the group. This Moment is amazing to me in so many ways. Thank you guys so much for your encouragement and support.

Thank you. We said our goodbyes today for the final time. It was closure, and sad. But now I can heal. Your PM moved me tears. And I hope one day when you are also in emotional turmoil, I can write a beautiful, motivational paragraph in return. Not that I would wish despair unto you. I read it to my mom and we both sort of blubbered and teared up together.

I have a very different view on such things than a lot of people do. I'm glad that what I said moved you, both of you. some people forget exactly how much energy goes into making us. We do not dissipate until we are ready and most will remain until you are well and return in your times of need to offer guidance when you most need it, subtly. It's always such small things that we walk through our days unaware, but until a person makes the decision to become something else, they do not dissipate and will walk beside you. They just become free. You both are so loved and thought of so well! Heal but never forget. Heal but still share secret moments as she will always be near you.

thank you so much. It is bittersweet. It was the only way I could express the moment when someone turns from death and chooses life. It was just supposed to be a fun little thing and turned into... that. That is why I included that bit of story, too. It became more to me and I tried to make it the most that it could be.

Thank you so much. I wasn't sure if I could so it, especially because they started as a watercolor... but I tried. I'm glad that you think I did well

thank you. I'm glad that you like it. I have been trying to push and stretch to see what I can make of myself, LOL. I'm glad that you like this one, especially because I never would have made it if you and Hector had not told me to draw monsters.

this is the painting, the first one that I did for you Hector . I wasn't sure you would want it because it is a vampire, but I thought the idea might still be interesting... and know one knows quite how to torture the undead like I do

Ohhhhh, it looks awesome! The colors give everything a more somber tone, so it fits with the writing piece, but the way his skin glows focuses the attention where it's supposed to be. Great job!

thank you. I'm so glad that you like it completed! I was a little worried about the background because I feel that my failing is making them feel like real places that hold my characters in them. This is the first full digitally painted background that I did. Every stock I looked at just didn't quite fit but gave me ideas for what I wanted, which made it worse. So I just... made it.

SandmanLordDream In reply to Myrretah [2011-01-15 07:51:34 +0000 UTC]

Well, it looks way cool. I've always thought that backgrounds done by hand looked better, though I know it's more work. I guess if I had to do it, I'm sure I'd have a totally different opinion. XD

thanks, I'm glad that you like it Mac I have been trying to grow, like you have. I am doing a collection of pieces that are made all by me, even the backgrounds (scary), and I was thinking to keep them more traditional... but this one needed to be done this way, LOL. I apparently really have no say in what happens with my work anymore. It does as it pleases.
