Description They're more promotional cards than business cards. Was in a pinch for time and needed some sort of card to represent the publication at an upcoming event. I took 20 minutes out of my day to design a custom stamp, ordered it ($17, shipped) and went back to my other work.

The stamp arrived 2 days before the event, giving me enough time to experiment with different paper sizes and produce the first 150 cards or so before the event.

The cards are hand-made, roughly 1" x 3" on two-ply vellum bristol board. Imprint is "chocolate" stamp ink made by Ancient Page.

Because they're hand-made there are minor differences between all of the cards in size, stamp placement, and occasional blemishes. The cards are sharp, thick and have a professional feel, but also retain the straightforward, all-text, DIY aesthetic that, we feel, fits in with our mission as a text-message-based journal of brief literature.

The cost is also pretty tenable for us. Thus far all cards have been printed on left-over and scrap paper from art classes at the local university. Our current "cost per card" including the cost of the stamp and ink is down to around .05 a card. As we make more cards, of course, that price drops. We were quite surprised to find it competitive with even high-volume offset printing runs when we took a pencil to it.

They're really fun to make, too. I've always just worked with words, but I took a intro design course this last semester as an undergrad. I really regret not doing it sooner (and taking more,) but I've found the simple work of just making something with my hands to be very centering.

I've got 5 more 22x30 sheets. I bought a new forest-green stamp. I don't like the results quite as much, but the stamp's fresh and I think the green ones will look a lot better when they aren't getting overinked.
