-Finished 09/30/09-

I first sketched this in march, then painted most of it in july, and then just finished it. >.>;

I sketched him cause I wanted to draw a merman, then I didn't feel like inking him so I put off finishing him for a few months, at which point I'd gotten into experimenting with painting on mostly 1 layer over sketch without lineart. So I decided to do the same with my merman too.

First I sketched the background... Which, since I used absolutely no reference on, probably doesn't look that great. XD;;;;; Especially the coral/sponge.... Until I fixed them they looked rather phallic... XD;;;; Actually, the only things in the background that I used any references of any kind for were the crappy looking fish(which weren't in the original background sketch) and the bubbles. XD;;

And then worked on the merman. I was going to have seaweed kinda draped over him(as there was in the original sketch)... However I just couldn't get that to look right so I scrapped that idea.

I rather like how his hair turned out. XD;;; OTL That's totally not my hair fetish speaking right there.... Really.... <_<;;;
