Description Imperial symbols and their meaning
Humans: the imperial crown
Dwarves: the sacred mechanism, the dwarven icon of technology
Halflings: the wheel represents both exploration, for the lightfoot caravans, and shelter, for the stouts. The wheel bears a resemblance to the great vault doors the stout halflings were protected by during The Dark Times
werewolves: represents their beastly form and instincts

Rebel symbols and their meaning
Humans: a shield symbolising strength
Duergar: the anvil of industry
Dragonborn: the broken chain, symbolising their uprising against the dragon slavers, and their belief in freedom for all, at any cost.
Chalicotaurs: their symbol for person (The same as the Australian first nations one). It is not a horseshoe, despite the chalicotaurs appearance (very heavily based on a chalicothere)

These are symbols for the member states within the empire/rebellion. United imperial/rebel forces use the imperial lion/rebel eye sigil, these are for smaller groups such as regional governors or town flags.
