She carries no smile in the hallways.
Her mind's too lost in itself to pay attention to those around her;
Those that care, those that don't;
Those that stop just to notice her presence, those that push past her;
Those that think she cares, and those that wish she did.
She drowns in her thoughts.
She doesn't even notice how much she hurts herself.
She's just trying to get by without any unnecessary pain,
But it always finds her in the end.

People see her silent and beautiful;
But do they notice the gleam in her eyes?
The gleam that leads to a world she created for herself.
She'd let you in, if you could just catch her dull gaze.
She'll invite you with a warm smile,
She'll give you all she can allow herself to; all that's left.
Then, when you've had enough,
She'll understand if you leave.
She'll pretend she's fine,
She's such a pro at this.
By now, the time you see her next, the tears have dried up.
The mask is on; she seems happy... Doesn't she?
