Well, the example in the link is a bit extreme, but I'm a Russian and I can confirm that yes, this is a thing.
Usually it just ends at people loving her character (which I totally understand. She's nice.) and calling her Gadget the Radiant. (Closest possible translation. Her name was translated in a different way, but "The Radiant" is a thing they say.)
The only more-or-less godly thing some fans do more-or-less commonly is swearing when *insert any piece of machinery* breaks and praying to her trying to repair it. Like, "Oh, for the sake of the Radiant." or "Please, by the name of Gadget, work already!".
BTW my friend, who repairs computers and such, has a poster of her in the workshop, and he calls upon her when he works on something very hard. Says he probably couldn't do some of the repairs all by himself. Can't really confirm if it's her doing, but he does do a pretty darn good job.)
TL;DR she isn't treated like the only God (as main religions do mostly), but more like one of the ancient gods of something.
Like, a god of technology.
