Description My first sketch of all six original Pygmies from the amazing and addicting Ipod apps Pocket God and Pocket God Comics

I tried to depict each member of the boy's tribe doing what they do best.

Klik - He was the first one I drew, so I didn't realize until later that he wasn't really doing anything, but I didn't have the heart to do it over after he came out so well xD He's the craftsman, and most intelligent Pygmy of the male tribe. If I were to redraw him, he would probably be holding some kind of construction tool, or have his trademark glasses over his eyes.

Ooga - Ooga is a prankster who constantly wreaks havoc by playing 'games' with Nooby that ultimately end in his death and subsequent regeneration. However, we learn in the 'Tale of Two Pygmies' comic story arc that he is also the tribe's best fisherman, so I drew him chilling with a fishing pole. I debated adding actual fish, but I didn't know where to put them.

Nooby - By far and away the singlemost adorable Pygmy ever. He is childlike and innocent, very trusting and loyal, and literally brainless - Issue 4 of the comics shows that this is not an exaggeration. He treats everyone in the tribe like his older brothers, especially Ooga, who, despite constantly dying at his hands, he calls his 'bestest friend ever'. With a hat and satchel he picked up from a skeleton in the God's Temple, Nooby is a habitual forager, even though he doesn't always get what he's supposed to. I accidentally made his head a little wider than the others, d'oh.

Klak - The klutz. There is not much else that needs to be said about him. He does have some skill with a spear, but he can't handle danger like the others in his tribe. The thing Klak does best is trip over his own feet

Booga - Even though the game describes him as 'gross and smells horrible', I don't think the comics make him out to be quite like that. He's more of a tough guy, and I think he's probably the best hunter, so I gave him a spear and a Dodo gull he'd managed to kill. He's the strongest Pygmy, so I tried to make his muscles stand out just a little more. Oh, I forgot the bone tattoo on his right arm - just ignore that, pretend it's on the part of his arm facing away from us

Dooby - The hippie of the boy's tribe, he is never phased by anything. Dooby is always spouting funny nonsense about how 'the universe will do what it will' and such, and he never walks around without a grin on his face. I've never seen him actually working in the comics, although it is implied that he does try to fish (but fails and lets Ooga do it for him) and gathered wood on the Haunted Island (but that's not really a skill and he handed it over to Klik for raft-building anyway). So I just drew him meditating, zoning out with his eyes closed and all that. His cross-legged sitting pose was the trickiest.

I'm wondering if I should color this. I'm still figuring out Photoshop.

IKR ?

*cracks knuckles* Prepare yourself - your mind will be blown.

Pocket God is an Ipod Touch/IPhone/IPad game app that's been around for a couple years - in a nutshell, the setting is a small archipelago of islands in ancient Pangaea where a small tribe of little people called the Pygmies live. You play as their 'god' - you get to determine where they go, what they do, whether or not they interact with things in the environment, even their names and personalities. How you play the game is very simple - touch the screen, things happen . The whole purpose of the game is to use the environment and native creatures to rain torment on these six Pymgies and inevitably bring about their deaths.

This may sound morbid and grim, but trust me, it's not that bad. Their deaths are engineered in such a way that there is no gore, no blood, no grotesque imagery, only an entertainment factor that lies in how frequently and how ridiculously they die. There are even achievements and Idol Challenges you can get for completing certain tasks . Plus, they're resilient little guys - you regenerate them as soon as they disappear . The people who make the game have been continuously adding islands, chambers to the Apocalypse Temple, and other fun things to keep the game fresh, and still are. Not to mention about a dozen hilarious internet memes, TV and game references for those who pay attention. I've been around since Episode 1, and I'm still lovin' it .

The Original Six, as I called them, are just that - the six default Pygmy names and basic personalities that the game gives you right out the gates. You can't change their appearance - each has the same generic Pygmy template- but you can alter their names/descriptions if you want, although I kept mine largely intact after I started reading the comics.

The sister app, Pocket God Comics, is made by the same people who made the game, and what inspired me to get back into PG after a long period of high school stress. PG Comics focuses on the original six Pygmy boys, except they are depicted as having the unique appearances I replicated above. The comics are what really give them life, with lots of references and throwbacks to the actual game, as well as a lot of things that aren't in the game, and I love each one of 'em . I won't spoil the story arcs, but just know that each issue is awesome and makes you want to read more, if not for the gripping story, then for the lolz. Pocket God Comics also won the Best Comic App of 2011 Award, if you weren't convinced yet ^^

I would totally recommend these apps to anyone who is bored and has an i-device. And I should really work on shortening my replies to comments

Actually, this WAS traditional. Y'know, with a pencil ? I tend to color my pieces in Photoshop, but uncolored ones are usually just graphite and paper.
