Prompts for Today: Fortune [Inktober] and Possessed [Drawtober]
For a little more context on my general Inktober approach for 2023, please see Day 1's Description .
Well, I have very casually slipped myself back into a rush again. Possibly the worst one yet! I think I got a little carried away with how much I enjoyed this prompt combination.
Highlights about the making of today's poem + background:
- If you can't tell, this one is a Haiku, for "Haikuesday," which I only just today learned is a thing, apparently? Haiku isn't a strong format for me—I had to use a syllable checker multiple times and even have ChatGPT spit a few things out at me to get me in the "right" mindset. [But rest assured, Sparklers, the final words are ultimately mine—I wasn't very happy with most of what the AI came up with, and most of it wasn't even proper Haiku anyhow no matter how many times I asked for that.]
- The background is a bit random, but it's almost exactly what came to mind to me last night when I was looking over the prompts to try and mentally prepare for today. I think my subconscious was going for a crystal ball predicting something bad, but I'm not totally sure.
I do wish the blue/green blob in the center had come out larger, but it's not terrible as-is. Kinda wish the X was a brighter red, too, but again—I don't hate it this way either.
- I wanted to include "necessary" for Dictionary.com's own extra challenge for the day, but I just couldn't get that in there without turning the poem into something I just didn't like because "necessary" ate a lot of syllables up by itself.
- This prompt did have a lot of potential though and while I am happy with this, I'm not sure I managed to quite do it as much justice as I'd hoped. It might be worth revisiting sometime after Inktober is over...Which is something I'm not sure I've ever seriously considered about an Inktober prompt before...
That about covers everything I wanted to mention, I think. If there's something I missed, I can either come back and add it later or touch on it in October's Monthly Museletter. [...Which yes, I do still intend on doing those even though it's been a while. August and September ended up being more busy/hectic months than I thought, so they got pushed by the wayside. ]
So now then if you Sparklers will excuse me I have some cross-posting to do, and then I will probably procrastinate on tomorrow's Ink/Drawtober by working on just about anything else creative that strikes my fancy. Because would I even be MysticSparkleWings if I did anything different?
