Description Gouache, 9x12. I'm not sure how many hours this took, maybe 12. I had hoped to finish it in January, but ran out of time.

The colors here are slightly skewed from the photo I took; this seems to have enhanced the yellows throughout the picture and especially makes them stand out on the mountain in the background. In reality the yellows are a bit more subdued and that splotch of color on the mountain is more of a light, sea green.

This is a 1923 Willys Overland set in the scenery of Southern Colorado near Coal Bank Pass.

Possibly. Β What exactly do you want to do with it? Β I'm trying to figure out how my painting relates to horses.

So mydreamstable.com is just a virtually website for teenies you can create animals and designs and stableplans, and many members dont paint stableplans for themself , they just take a picture like your pictures and use them just for a presentation ''welcome to my stable lalalalalalala text text'' , i hope you understand i would write your name on it Β

So, it sounds you want to use this as an optional background? Β Is that correct?

iskakiska In reply to MystiqueDeep [2013-10-23 10:41:22 +0000 UTC]

yes just as a background

That should be fine then. Β Thank you for asking for permission.

The detail in this is beautiful <3 I love the composition and all of the different elements of the scenery - especially the the red/brown and blue tones in the hills, that looks gorgeous. The only thing I would say is that to me the car looks a little detached from the image. I think its that the shadow is a little light in comparison to the shadows of the trees which to me was the first thing that really stood out when I saw this. I don't know whether it is just the photograph or not though.

Thanks for the tip. In another few days I'm thinking of touching up the picture, so I'll take a look a the car and shadow a bit more.

Thank you so much! Among all 3 of your reviews, I have a fairly clear understanding of what you mean. I really appreciate your time and effort.

I can tell you took some time to critique my painting, and thank you for that. I just wish I understood your critique better. If you happen to speak Spanish, you are welcome to try Spanish as I also speak that language.

Anyway, here's what I think I understood.

1. The road is placed oddly. Sadly, I didn't understand the rest of it, so I'm not sure what's odd about it. Is it the road in the front (foreground) or the back (background)?

2.There is a problem with the shadows. I didn't understand which shadows or which problem. The shadow of the car? The shadow of the trees? Or did you mean the dark shading of everything?

3. I think you're saying that the grass at the bottom right is too dark and looks like a cliff, but the road doesn't have the same shadows.

4. You also tell me there is something wrong with the tree's shadow, but I didn't understand what it is.

Thanks again for your time.

That should work. I can read some French, but not speak it. With that and google, it should make sense to me. I also appreciated your graph.

Wow! You sure have come a long way in your backgrounds!
This might be your best one yet.
Really good piece of work!

Thank you! This probably is the first painting with an extensive middle range to the background and definitely the one with the most depth. It's crazy where a person can learn things about art. For this piece I was trying out a method I had noticed after staring at a painting in a restaurant for an hour waiting for my fiance and his friend to finish talking about computer programming (which is a subject significantly beyond my area of expertise).
