RIP Honey BearI've found some poems this evening, all of them about the loss of a pet. I thought I should share them.
A Poem for Wally
Oh my sweet kitty, I love you still,
there’s a place in my heart, you always will fill.
I still feel your fur, and find it around,
bringing back memories of the kitty I found.
I miss you, I miss you, what more can I say,
I wish you were here for just one more day

He really was that: a sweetheart! It's been a very long time since I've felt this sort of heartbreak, probably not since Sassy, who was about 3 months old when she died of feline distemper. At least she didn't seem to be suffering, unlike Honey Bear. His last moments must have been horrifically painful! I spoke with the vet when we took in another cat; she and I agreed that it likely was his heart. She said that sometimes there's a heart defect that doesn't show up till a kitten starts growing and becoming more active.
My mom admitted that Honey Bear was a remarkable little boy, very special. But, she handled his loss, and I've been doing such a terrible job.
However, maybe the presence of Cat Ballou's three kittens will help cheer up my spirits; two are tiny tiger-stripe kittens, and the third is grey and about three times their size. The "tigers" seem very active, playful and healthy though they're very little; they LOVE to eat! Maybe they'll survive~though a big hawk has been hanging around a lot. Mom said that it swooped very low over the lawn the other day. *shiver*
Also, Mamacat must have had her litter! She's Cat Ballou's mother. We're hoping that she'll bring them here, as she usually does with her kittens. Then, her babies and Cat's can play together! Awww...

Poor kitty, may he rest in peace... I hope the other kittens grow up happy, safe and healthy! And that they can make friends with Mamacat's babies

Yes, he was cute, funny, playful, happy and very ornery. He was very serious about play-fighting, and I had the dents in my hands to prove it. The marks lasted for a week after he left us.
I just can't keep from crying.
