Fanart of Leo from VGcats. I just think he's adorable, and he's one of the original characters that got me so in to furry stuff a few years ago.Originally wasn't going to color this sketch, but I thought it'd make a great phone wallpaper.
Tried to emulate the VGCats art-style a bit, i'd say I was decently successful there.

Sorry, got him mixed up with Mike, he's a grey cat character from the comic Bittersweet Candy Bowl, which I also read religiously, so you can probably see how I could get them mixed up...
And it's very well done, if I didn't do any double-takes, I'd have thought this was authentic art done by the cartoonist themselves!

I don't know... I mean sure, maybe you will never capture that exact same style, but that's not the point! You yourself have your own style to continue with and develop, and from what I can tell of your art so far, it's already pretty good!
So don't necessarily compare yourself to other artists in terms of trying to get their style down, that's pretty hard. And if you do manage to imitate their art style flawlessly, it's not your own style anyway.
Besides, using your own style adds a fresh take on something.
I mean for example, if you look at my MLP art, it's not the same as the generic MLP style. But so many artists copy the generic style for MLP, and it all looks the same, there is nothing new or interesting about it.
It's always better to stand out, rather than have clone art anyway.
