I am NEVER drawing my entire Nowhere U cast at once, EVER AGAIN. OK, maybe just not for awhile. Twelve people is just insane. Yikes, this took forever. I was supposed to have it done in time for Halloween (it being a Halloween cosplay pic and all), but first my tablet blew out, then I had ankle trouble. But everything's worked out; I have a new tablet, and my ankles are kinda getting better. I was finally able to finish this, although this may have been the most time I've ever put into an artwork. That's twelve characters at once for ya. Because there's twelve, the pic is kinda wide. I could have made the image bigger, but then it just would have been all that much harder to make out.

Background is simple, because if it got any more complicated, the pic would just look horrible, what with all the people and text. Lighting comes from the upper-forward-right, because that's my favorite direction for lighting.

So here's the cast of my webcomic, Nowhere University, cosplaying one of my favorite animes, Fullmetal Alchemist!

Himeno, being the anime freak in the group (mainly shoujo, but she'll dip into shounen occasionally), is just happy at cosplaying. She has some things in common with Trisha Elric, so the two were a good match. That, and there's only so many female characters in Full Metal Alchemist to go around.

Edward the III as Edward Elric. How funny is this? I didn't know the two had so much in common until I actually drew it. They're both rather short people (although Ed III has a few more inches on Edo), both have a tendancy of being rather full of themselves when it comes to what they do best, both get rather annoyed fairly easily (although Ed III gets arrogantly offended while Edo just flies off the handle), and both even have the same freakn' name. So I couldn't resist this cosplay...despite Ed's not wanting to EVER do something like this.

Theo, being the nice guy and the only one tall enough to even FIT into that armor, cosplays Alphonse. But just being tall doesn't mean he's got the muscle to stand up in what must be over 100 pounds of iron and steel. At least not well. And did I mention how HARD that armor is to draw?!? I have no clue how Arakawa does that so often and so consecutively. I am in awe at her artistic talent.

Speaking of Arakawa, the Artist's avatar gets to cosplay the manga-ka's avatar! How fun is that? The sight of seeing myself in a giant cow suit (that wears glasses, none the less) practically kills me.

Alice is cosplaying Sheska because that's really who she fits best. Alice, like me and Sheska, likes to read. Unlike Sheska, Alice and I do NOT have photographic memories; quite the opposite in fact. But I still feel a strong attachment to that character, despite her not being that big a player character in the series.

Jane gets Winry, because someone had to cosplay the main girl of the story, and Jane seemed to fit her best. Besides, the two of them don't tolerate stupidity. I think if they were to ever meet, they'd get along excellently, and secretly plan ways to make Edward Elric's and John Stewart's lives miserable if they ever do anything dumb.

Ben is the only one playing an anime-only character (heck, this one is movie-only), because he looked JUST LIKE Alphonse Heiderich. And the two of them are nice guys. To be honest, I actually haven't seen the movie, or the end of the anime...I've only read summaries and seen screenshots. So if I did get any details wrong, please let me know and I'll do what I can to fix it.

John's playing Mustang, because SOMEONE had to, John was the best possibility, and the two of them thing oh so highly of themselves anyways that it was a fairly good match despite neither of them looking remotely the same. Unlike Ed and Hera, John didn't opt for a wig because he's just careless that way (actally, I doubt Ed was cool with the wig either; it was probably forced on him like the rest of the outfit). John can be a bit of a flirt like Mustang too, albiet not really all that intentionally.

If I could picture what Diedre would be grown-up and mature, it would be Hawkeye. Both are seriously lawful-good, both are strict, by-the-book people, and both are extremely patient unless pushed just a little too far. Of all the cosplayers, Diedre is the most like her character. The only difference is that Hawkeye has a few more years and a lot more maturity on her. Oh, and she also knows when to let her gentle side show occasionally.

James as Envy makes me laugh. He even looks a lot like the shapeshifter. He's not peterbed at all by Envy's odd outfit, and if anything uses it to flaunt his good looks. Both Envy and James can be arrogantly narcissic. Envy mainly because he actually secretly hates himself (and have you SEEN his true form in the manga?!? FREAK-CITY!!!), while James really does think he's all that. And actually, with his magic, James is something of a shapeshifter too, so that's something else they have in common. Oh, and they're both on the wrong team.

Hera, being the stuck-up flirt she is, is a perfect match for Lust. Beautifully deadly describes them both. I can see Hera really looking up to Lust. And for reasons I cannot explain for plot, Lust would actually probably like her too. Ultimatly, Hera doesn't quite feel content with her cosplay until she feels that James likes it. Good luck getting him to look at anything but a mirror.

Ishmael is cosplaying the series favorite Ishbalan, Scar. Hey, his name even sounds similar to Scar's race. Didn't notice that until I typed it. Huh. Anyways, Scar would probably be Ishmael's role model of the series, but not for good reasons. Ishmael respects Scar's thought of "those who wrong me will be wronged back", because it's something he can relate with. Forget the talk; just cut to the action. Another thing that the two of them have in common; they're both a lot more cunning than they let on. Scar just seems like a hypocritical mass-murderer to most (well, he is, actually), but the reason he's survived so long is because of his wits and determination to stay alive. Ishmael is content to let everyone consider him an idiot, because that's the best way to plan without anyone getting in the way. The both of them are muscular, quiet think-tanks who'll take you down no problem if you so much as look at them funny.

Nowhere U is copyrighted to me! FMA is copyrighted to a whole lot of people, but I'll give main rights to Arakawa Hiromu.
